SYC social media

Okay so…. SYC is not in MLS Next. They’re in the MLS Next Intra-League. The only academy SYC will play is DC United. If DC United doesn’t take any SYC players, that shows you just how poorly SYC is doing. The purpose of MLS Next Intra League is to move played in MLS academies.

You don’t understand what is going on with the league. They also play Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union at all age groups. The MLS academy matches are in addition to regional schedules.

Thanks again to girls soccer parents, who know absolutely nothing about boys soccer or leagues. SYC is much better than Arlington at ages below Arlington’s last DA team. They are gonna continue losing players because they want their girls to play ecnl. If SYC is EDP then ECNL must be ODSL on the boys side. If Arlington were ever respected as much as Bethesda, they would have received an invite to be one of the core members of MLS Next and they would have had leverage to split boys and girls into different leagues. That just wasn’t and isn’t the case.

Exactly, if clubs want the top boys, they have to put their girls teams in second or third tier leagues.

Well that doesn’t reflect well on the Arlington girls either - they cannot get in on their own, like Bethesda. Nor does it reflect well on the ECNL.

It reflects pretty poorly on SYC girls who may as well not exist as far as the club is concerned

Agreed, people keep getting confused about the league vs. intra-league on the MLS Next website. If you look at it, you will see everyone plays everyone else twice each year. One at home, one away. Everyone that is in their division. The local division is Mid-atlantic. DCU red bull and union are in that mid-atlantic division and play each other and every other team in the mid atlantic division twice. one counts as league the other as inter-league. They split up the games between league and inter-league just to confuse everyone I guess. but there is no other secret MLS NEXT league where only DCU is going out to secretly play other MLS pro team's academies. You are either in or out. This isn't an ECNL vs. ECNL-R situation. At least not today.

Well not at all age groups, since those clubs don't have teams at U16 or U19 age groups. And DCU doesn't have U13, U14 or U19 teams.

I noticed where SYC teams are at when you order it by “wins” and “goals scored”

Explains why SYC is somewhat competitive at those two age groups and U15 and up falls off.

Wait, I thought you wanted girl parents to leave the thread.

No it doesn’t. Bethesda is the top team in U13 mid Atlantic and one of the top nationally, both bethesda and SYC play Red Bulls and Philly Union, and SYC just beat bethesda. You don’t know what you are talking about so stop embarrassing yourself. The absence of DCU doesn’t make either of those teams great. They are really good period. The presence of dcu would not explain why SYC is not doing great, unless syc were losing all of its players to dcu. This has already been explained elsewhere, and if you don’t get it, you won’t and probably ought to stop infecting this board and your family and the gene pool with stupidity.

X beat Y and Y beat Z therefore SYC is the best! Do the U13 and U14 thing. Leave post-puberty development to the professionals.

You're wrong about there not being "another league" where only DCU goes out to play other MLS pro team's academies. The U15 and U17 DCU teams play a large number of games against many of the other MLS academies from Toronto in the north to Chicago in the west to Orlando in the south - games which non-DCU teams do not play. This doesn't happen at U16 because most MLS academies don't have a U16 team. It's not quite as split as ECNL and ECNL-R - but there is definitely a two tier league.

And imagine saying that kids who are not near the top at 12 are somehow going to be so much better in two or three years than players who are on top u13 teams right now. We know things change. But they don’t change that much among top players. Every one of the top players at DCU and elsewhere were top players at this age.
