I've been making this for months. I think it's healthy/nutritious, but I'm curious what you think.
1/2 banana 1/2 cup frozen strawberries 1/2 cup frozen blueberries 1-2 cups fresh baby spinach 2 scoops unflavored whey protein (30g protein) 1 tbsp chia seeds Blended and poured into a bowl with 1/2 cup homemade granola on top (This recipe without the dried fruit: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1014304-eleven-madison-park-granola) Do you think this is balanced breakfast? |
Where are your carbs? 1/2 granola isn't enough. |
That is very similar to what I eat, OP. You may want to think about a way to incorporate something fermented for gut health. |
I would eat real protein, and not whey or processed crap. Eat the fruit smoothie, then eat 2 hardboiled eggs.
|
Too much sugar for me (especially the granola but also the banana) but everyone is different. If you feel good, that’s all that matters! My typical breakfast is eggs and bacon, which many would consider very unhealthy but I think is optimal. |
Looks good to me OP! I also top with hemp hearts or flax if I have it in the cabinet. More importantly how do you feel? Does this taste good and do you feel energized and full until your next meal? That’s more telling than some internet strangers. |
It's ONE meal. Sounds good OP! |
I find that I do best starting the day with a savory breakfast with zero sugar, but that's just me! My go to is good quality sourdough with avocado and some sort of protein on top (usually eggs, sardines, or chicken). |
Too many carbs/sugar. |
This. Also need to take into your daily macros. If this is your daily protein, it’s not enough. If your’e getting in 25g of protein/meal (3x/day), that’s awesome. |
What do you mean where are the carbs? There’s carbs in bananas and blueberries. |
Fruit is a carb. |
I pity anyone who takes any advice from this forum which is just chock full of nonsense. There are people posting here freely giving advice who don’t know fruit is a carb. SMH. |
This wouldn’t keep me full for very long but if it works for you I think it’s fine.
I have one egg every morning with broccoli and sometimes spinach mixed in. My tween has half an avacado on WG toast with an egg on top and a side of fruit. This keeps her going until school lunch at 1245. |
Other members of the same grouping of nutritionally illiterate will claim a banana is a sugar bomb. Because there are millions of humans that have managed to place themselves into metabolic disorder by eating whole fruits. |
