Is anyone taking UT off the list? https://thehill.com/homenews/education/457097...-with-texas-dei-ban/ |
Moving it up the list. Thanks, OP. |
Good. |
No, this is bad. We need more diversity, equity and inclusion in our educational institutions. |
I 100% agree, but I am not sure that DEI consultants help progress towards that goal. |
I agree. And many DEI officials are only for free speech when they agree with it. For example several schools (including UMD) have had DEI officials that have posted antisemitic remarks. |
Not of their own volition, but rather under threat of losing funding from the legislature.
DEI office dismantling is one thing, but they also closed the campus community engagement division, which had a much broader mission. I hope they reorganize that office because it is important for everyone. - UT Alum |
Did they do this because of some racist Texas law? You know, how states like Texas and Florida are dragging us back to the Jim Crow days? I heard about that shit. Let me guess, you're some white person who's tired of all this race talk already. |
No, I’m a reasonable citizen who recognized DEI for the waste of money and time that it is. |
No I just think DEI grifters drive up the cost of college and contribute zero educational content. |
To what end? When is it enough? |
I think most schools will follow suit. |
I’m not white and I agree. I’m not sorry to see this go, and I hope other public institutions follow suit. |
+1. Because it does and they do. Thank you for recognizing this. As a parent, please speak up. Now. |
Good for UT!!! I work at a Virginia R1 in academic affairs and absolutely hate all of our DEI bullshit. It's performative, nauseating, meaningless, useless, wasteful. I hope Youngkin dismantles the whole thing on his way out. |
