Angie Harmon's dog shot and killed by Instacart shopper

Horrible, horrible situation but I don't know... the Ring camera was "conveniently" charging during this one incident so he said/she situation? Am I an @sshole for thinking that?

It is a really sad situation. I have no idea what happened, obviously. I will say that I have found many dog owners to be terribly inconsiderate and stupid about their animals. I sometimes go to people's homes to conduct business and they will let their huge, hairy, salivating dogs jump up on me, tear my panty hose, lick my face all the while saying, "Oh, Rover...Rover, she doesn't like that. Get down..." as Rover moves to humping my leg.

Put your dog away when you've called someone to your home for business (or any other reason, really). Again, not saying that the shooter was justified - I really don't know. I just wouldn't rush to judgement against him. My guess would be that the dog threatened him in some way, and that he was carrying a gun because of safety concerns being a delivery driver.

Is it possible that an instacart deliverer got attacked by a dog? Yep. I'm not going to automatically jump to her side of the story.

Artlice is strange. If a dog lunges at you and is off leash, you aren't going to wait for it to bite you and tear your pants to act. Why wasn't she supervising her dog? We have 2 neighbors with overly protective and aggressive dogs. One set of neighbors are incredible and they never let that dog wander, they are trying to stop the aggressiveness and they obey leash logs. The other set are bat shit crazy and that dog is going to mess with the wrong person one day. When he comes at me I use an aggressive don't F with me tone to make him stop and alert the neighbors in case he doesn't.

People can be such entitled jerks with their poorly behaved dogs and I say that as a dog lover. Look at the Bidens with their German Shepard that bites people.

This is very upsetting and I don't get how it happened. Why did the guy come into the property if the dog was there barking? Why not just leave at outside door? I always leave instructions to leave at the door.

I have a little shi tzu mix and always put him away, but this story is very strange. Seems to me like the dog was protecting the home from this person for good reason: 1. not the actual instacart shopper who should have come 2. was carrying a loaded weapon onto the property.

I really think if you have a delivery coming and your dog is loose where they are doing the delivery, this is your fault as the owner whether the dog is aggressive or not. You have to secure your dog. Unless he climbed over a fence or something to get to the dog, this is her fault.

Since the police reviewed the situation right after it happened, I am guessing the dog was threatening. No where does she say her dog is gentle and never does anything. She simply says he wasn’t injured. That’s very different from, “our dog was tiny and has always been passive.”

It’s sad it happened but she has a responsibility as the pet owner, esp when she’s inviting people onto her property. Of the two of them, she’s the only one who would know how this dog usually acts.

I don’t understand how the driver “knew the ring camera was charging because he saw it.” Lady what?

Is that a pitbull?

+1 Irresponsible of her not to have her dog put away when expecting delivery. I will absolutely give the delivery driver the benefit of the doubt.

I don’t even think the dog had to have done anything aggressive, if she had the dog loose where a delivery person would logically go, this is entirely her fault.

I looked up the address and if the current one, then it makes even less sense: there is no front gate or front enclosure, you can walk straight to the front door! So did he shoot the dog inside the house?!
