Ok mid-rise and low-rise pants - you can come back now

I am missing my long lost low rise Gap khakis that weren’t skinny or flared or clown leg - just straight and a bit slouchy. They looked great with flip flops, or could be dressed up up a little. They were button flies.

I’m looking everywhere online for khakis and everything is high rise.

I am in my 50s with a belly pouch and high rise is not flattering and awfully uncomfortable. And I won’t attempt to pull off the big flares or wide leg.

I know this is what’s in with younger stylish women.

But aren’t there a lot of women who would buy mid/low rise and anything on the spectrum between rock star skinny and wide flares.

In Khaki too pls with the flattering square front pockets.

I ordered something off Amazon which looked like it fit the bill, but turned out to be wide leg.

I hear you. High rise is not flattering unless you are like, under 35.

Not sure about the age thing. I think it is just better for people that have a longer torso. I'm short so mid-rise is like the "high waist" look without the discomfort.

I look better in high rise and I am 51

It’s better for people with a long torso and looks good if you can wear I cropped top that just hits the waistband. Also you need smallish boobs. I am short waisted and busty. I have a nice flat stomach and I think I look better in low rise. Not super low. But definitely lower.
I also hate that all leggings and yoga pants are now high rise. If you don’t have a flat tummy and a perky butt you look awful. Not too mention how they press into your stomach if you are sitting for a while. I get gas.

I have a tummy from having a kid. I will never ever wear low rise again.

Agree with PPs that high rise looks good on a long torso with a boyish figure. That's how I'm built and I'm mid 40s and I have always looked better in a higher rise, even before they were in.

But mid rise and even some low rise are actually coming back in fashion. Literally Google "midrise" or "low rise" pants for women and you will find lots of mainstream brands offering this, including places like the Gap and Old Navy.

What's stopping you? Poshmark has a ton

low rise in your 50s? really?

Couldn’t agree more. Most women over 40 that wear high rise look awful. They may be more comfortable or secure feeling because of a post-baby belly, but they visually have the same effect as a guy who the a dad-bod that pulls his pants up to his belly button and tucks in his shirt, unless you have a VERY defined waist AND wear a fitted top. Sorry, not sorry. It’s true.

OP, check Poshmark. Search for “vintage” low rise and you’ll find a ton.

And literally ALL the high rise jeans in this article….

Again, fine if you like them for comfort. I do many unfashionable things for the sake of comfort. But these aren’t flattering on most women. Not even the younger ones that are overweight.

Np. I’m 5’3 and mid and low rise just fit better. I feel like gagging in high rise. I always end up undoing the top button in my car when it cuts into me.

OMG thank you for articulating this. High rise jeans make women with a gut feel safe and secure because they have a piece of thick fabric covering that pooch, I guess. In their brain, they imagine the problem is solved because no one can see through that uninterrupted wall of fabric and spy their belly. Whew.

Except, all that fabric is accentuating and calling attention to your gut. You may feel all tucked in but the look is 5 mos. pregnant, busting out under a cinched waistband. More flattering to locate a roomier waistband just under the bulge and wear a slightly longer top.

Thank you.

We don't mean 2004 Britney Spears when they say low rise, complete with a thong and tramp stamp. No, just something - anything, please dear god - that ends just below the navel
