From the west coast and we recently moved to DC area. We are middle life and like to not drink on certain nights but enjoy lighting up when we do not. Curious as to whether it is taboo here and what others thinks. PS loving DC except for the cold wet days!

So, yeah, we have a disproportionate number of people like this. They are sad, miserable souls. They wear lanyards and laugh at their own jokes, little else.

Welcome! It’s not quite Southern California but yeah, fully legal and very common. No one will give you a hard time about it including cops.

I'd recommend getting your DC Medical Card (you can self certify, same day) so you know exactly what you are getting -- tested and regulated. Cheaper too in most cases (I think).

Just vape and blow it out your back door at night if you are in a row house. If detached, do as you please.

Honestly OP, depending on where in the area you live and your social circle, I think you will be surprised to find how many people here consider pot smoking pretty low class.

This. I wouldn’t want to spend time with you if you weren’t drinking but you probably wouldn’t want to hang out with me when you are high either.

I have plenty of friends who have started using edibles but I don't know any who are smoking. I cannot stand the smell myself but no judgement about marijuana use if done responsibly.
