| My son is a junior at UMD and has internship offers from both the above companies, which should he accept? |
| Both very good. Doe she want to end up in Banking. Then Cap 1 for sure. |
|
He's a comp. science major, I think he is unsure
about which way to go at this time. |
| Cap 1 is known as the most tech heavy banking operation. So CS major will have lots to do there. That said, amazon is an excellent option as well. You cant go wrong either way. |
| Thanks, hope he will make the best decision for him. |
| For juniors I would pick Cap 1. Amazon (according to a few friends w kids at Amazon) didn't give return offers last summer. Instead gave return internship offers and delayed the full time offers. I would prefer to have a full time offer in hand by the end of junior summer. But if your student doesn’t care either way, then I would go w Amazon. |
| Amazon is a terrible place to work. They chew up employees and spit them out. They are proud of their high attrition rate. |
| Amazon pay isn’t great, I’d choose Capital One. |
| I'd go to Cap1. IMO, better to be the tech around finance people than the tech around tech people. Broadens your world and opportunities. But both are good options and it's ultimately what your kid prefers. |
This. Tech innovation at Cap 1 (at least was) fantastic, and amazon really is a factory. |
|
Amazon
All c1 does is hire Amazon anyway Also depends on where he’ll go to have the internship, if it’s the retail bank stay FAR away |
True, but it's like most big Silicon Valley companies in this regard and would carry more weight than a credit card company. |
| This is a no brainer, Amazon. Nobody outside of this area would take C1 seriously. |
+1. Amazon is still big tech and worth a lot to have on a resume if the kid wants to move outside of the DC Metro area |
| Is it Amazon or AWS? If it AWS, you definetly need to select AWS. |
