I want to wear leggings

Anonymous
Look, I'm fat. I hate tight things around my waist, and I especially hate traveling in jeans. I love, love, love knit dresses over leggings, but I know that's a fashion faux pas. Still, how bad is something like the below? Is there any way I can make it better? I'm 48, if that matters. I do look maybe 10 years younger (avoid sun), but I'm a size 20. I just want to be comfortable.

It’s a cute outfit and I think you should wear whatever you want!

In the winter, why not tights under the dress? In the summer, why not bike shorts?

My legs are lumpy, not with cellulite but regular fat. Leggings smooth them out.

I'm 47 and super fat and wear leggings when I take walks because they don't wind up with holes in the crotch like my jeans do.

I think the picture you included looks kind of bad to be honest. Is it that you want the look, or the dress, or get cold legs? If the latter two, consider bike shorts.

I like stretchy, comfortable clothes and want to hide my legs. Something like linen pants is out because they're loose and flowy and make me look bigger.

Nothing wrong with dress & leggings, OP.

I think it’s fine. I don’t see anything wrong with it.

This is totally fine and very practical. Don’t overthink it. Not every moment has to be a fashion statement.

I think leggings under dresses are still fine but the outfit you linked up does not look good. If you want to wear black leggings pick a dress of a darker color.

I think monochromatic could help it look more modern. Or even a dress with a black pattern and black leggings.

Please don't!!

And your alternative would be?

Its definitely a dated look, but if you want to, who cares?
I love wearing bike shorts under my skirts to a, save my thighs and b, avoid any mishaps.
