| My kid was waitlisted at Michigan and rejected at UVA. Because she was waitlisted it makes me think there is a possibility. Is it worth waiting to see if she gets accepted in April, or should we just move forward with acceptances already received? |
| Waitlist != acceptance. Move on and hope for a miracle. |
| Waitlisted or postponed (deferred)? I don’t think Michigan waitlists EA. It is accept, reject, postpone. In RD they will waitlist. |
| Sorry - she was deferred. |
| She was deferred in the EA round. |
| If Michigan is your first choice and DC will definitely go if accepted, you need to have your school’s college counselor convey that, as should you directly. Otherwise, it is likely going to be a waitlist result. |

In 2021 older DS was deferred in EA and accepted by Michigan in RD but rejected by UVA.
In 2024 younger DS was deferred in EA by Michigan but accepted by UVA in EA. So yes, wait out the next 3 weeks or so. You never know. |
| Why not wait? DC’s other acceptances aren’t going anywhere. |
| DD was "postponed" by Michigan EA, accepted by UVA EA |
| OP here - I think she just wants to make a decision to be done with it. |
| Michigan is an easier admit for OOS Virginians applying. Michigan likes the $'s. |
Agree. Harder for VAs to get in UVA than UMich. |

PP with the two DSs in 2021 and 2024. They were from the same FCPS high school, virtually same GPA (uw and w) and SATs and ECs.
From this, we always felt that UVA was a coinflip and never expected DS 2024 to get in. But he did. So you never know. |

My kid waitlisted UVA EA and in at UMich. For the desired program UMich significantly better. Yet more admissions weirdness.

| FWIW OP a close friend was WL at UVA but eventually got into Michigan. She was instste VA. She was in her second week of classes at Michigan when she got the call from UVA. She loaded up her car and went to UVA. She has a fantastic four years there and is now excelling in her field. Good luck! |
