After his 3rd DUI, a 23 year old illegal killed a nun and critically injured 2 other nuns on their way to church at 8 am
http://www.wtop.com/?nid=25&sid=2016921 As I wote a few weeks ago, more and more poeple in the court system --nevermind this makes me so sick, this could have been anyones kid that got killed by this person who enterend the country illeglally yet so many people think they should be allowed to stay. |
| Would her death have been any less tragic if he had been a white kid from McLean? How you can make this tragedy about immigration is beyond me. Sad sad sad. |
| read the headline, the guy was in the US illegally- |
| Help me understand why some people think it's okay to allow ILLEGAL immigrants into this country. Personally, I think there's something really wrong with that. |
| Oh please. That's like saying, "An irish drunk ran her off the road, maybe all the irish should be sent back to ireland". There are bad apples of every stripe. |
I'm sorry, what is your point? I repeat, is her death more tragic because of his immigration status? If she had been killed by a student at Langley would that have been less tragic? How horrible to use her death to make a political statement. |
| what in the world? this is one discriminatory comment if I've heard any... How does being here illegally make any difference??? I guess no american citizens get DUIs and kill people? He should go to jail and pay like anyone else but being an illegal immigrant has nothing to do with it! wow, I hope you are never faced with a situation where you have to make that choice to feed your family and give them a roof... |
| Well, basic logic. If he wasn't here--where he should not be and has no right to be--the nun would still be alive. |
| nope - your "logic" assumes there are only 2 people involved in this situation....there are more (the people in the car, the families, the people who affected when the people left and where they were going). This type of logic often affects those who can't see the gray area in anything - so I'm not surprised you would apply such faulty logic to the issue of immigration. Perhaps if we got rid of all cars, or alcohol, the nun would still be alive too. Or, perhaps if we got rid of bitchy people who like to make tragic accidents into some sort of soap box we would all be better off too. |

And here is a man who came illegally and gave his life for this country: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jim-derych/lance-cpl-jose-gutierrezi_b_21806.html
So what, does that even it out? If the tally of contribution tilts one way or another, does that have any bearing on whether the Arizona law is good or bad? Look, here is another illegal immigrant. This one saved a white boy. So is the score 2-1 now? http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2004053361_rescue05.html The premise of this thread is ridiculous. |
| The people I knew that were killed on the road were struck by drunk or sleepy US drivers. Those 3 deaths (in 3 separate accidents) were no less tragic than the nun's. One of them was a child. |
You're right. Citizens do get DUI's and kill people it's not something that only occurs with illegals. The difference is that this is a known criminal and he should have been deported after his first offense. At the very least he should have been detained and required to attend some sort of addiction rehabilitation. |
I am cyber hugging you. Well said. |
If we outlawed nuns, they couldn't die in car accidents. But there is a difference here... the immigrant, if indeed undocumented, and if convicted, should be deported. Why should his action have any bearing on the lives of hardworking honest people trying to provide for their families by contributing to our economy? |

I have never seen such ignorance as on this thread. This proves so much. |
