What type of candidates get into these schools firing RD? In your experience over the last 2 cycles?
Any specific examples (schools/stats)? Are they all “top 3 in class” type of kids which is what I’m gathering? |

It depends.
Think there are more options/depth for RD at schools like Emory; WashU; Rice than at other schools (Penn; Northwestern; Cornell). This year though, the jury is out. It’s unclear how it plays. |
| Last cycle RD T25 results - 4.0 UW, 4.6W, 1580. Rejected from Princeton, Duke, JHU, Northwestern, WL at Vandy, admitted to Georgetown, UNC. |

My son got into Cornell RD for CS last year from FCPS. 3.8 uw, 1460, robotics team and other “regular” ECs. I think he did a good job of personalizing his essays but who knows what they were looking for.
His good friend got into Rice RD and his resume is amazing plus but he lives in NC so not sure his stats are relevant to DC area folks. |
Where did your kid apply EA/ED? Public or private HS? Major? |
| No one from my son’s private got in RD. No one. The entire game was played out REA, SCEA, ED and EA |
DC Private? |
What? How can that even be? Lots of hooked early Ivy kids? Can you share IG link for last years class? |
That’s good news |
| The only kids at our public who got into t25 in RD were high stats first Gen and urm. |
| This is so eye opening but doesn’t really correspond to the stories on Reddit or CC…. |
Don't want to out them any more. Public HS, not engineering or a major from a school that requires a special application. |
Almost the opposite at our DC private. The only kids who got in ED were arm/first gen/reasonable stats. |
|
Don’t you think this is a self-selecting group? Ppl here apply early/organized.
It can’t be that only FG and URM are admitted in RD when that’s all we saw admitted to certain private schools in ED…. |
