That's actually a good thing, I think. We've gone from worrying that DoJ wasn't even paying attention to DoJ asking for more and more.
That said, I do hope the Select Committee opens up the firehose for DoJ.

Meanwhile FOX News is at most only spending 20 seconds on the hearings - latest focus was on Pence. No mention at all on FOX of Eastman or many of the other revelations.

Fox actually aired the hearing yesterday live with Martha McCallum, who seemed appropriately concerned by what they presented. But then the "experts" (Jonathan Turley and Andy McCarthy) attacked the Committee for focusing so much on Trump, and downplayed the seriousness of the situation.

How Turley can continue to keep all these positions at GW Law School is beyond me. If I were a student, I could never take him seriously.

He’s an absolute joke.

I highly highly recommend that as a supplement to the hearings, everyone should listen to the podcast "Will Be Wild" It gives tremendous insight into what was going on inside the government in the months leading up to 1/6 and how agencies were completely hamstrung.

The FBI was warned of every single thing that happened and they didn't act on it. They knew, but they let it happen. It wouldn't have made a bit of difference if Pence had gone straight to them.

Copying this from the Eastman thread - it’s not my post but I completely agree. I listen to a LOT of podcasts and this is the best one I’ve heard since Bag Man and the OG Slow Burn about Watergate. It’s so good and vital background even if you’re following this stuff closely like I am.

Looks like they’re waiting for this round of hearings to be over.

Most of the committee staff are former federal prosecutors. I’m sure they have this handled.

You don't read the news much do you?

Here's just a sample of what Garland and the DOJ have been doing:
https://www.npr.org/2022/06/08/1103356208/the-justice-department-has-gone-far-and-wide-in-its-jan-6-probe-some-want-more
The Justice Department is racking up convictions in its investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, charging more than 800 people with crimes related to the deadly assault, securing three guilty pleas on the rare charge of seditious conspiracy and winning the cooperation of insiders from far-right groups.

Garland and the DOJ have been sifting through many thousands of submitted videos, social media posts, researching people who attended the rallies, doing face recognition on people in the crowds at the Capitol. Did you not see or hear about the hundreds of trials that have been going on, all the indictments, all the charges, the cases that have made it to court, the ones that have been arraigned?

They are working through the largest legal case that the DOJ has had in history. They are trying to clear the way by clearing out the smaller cases that are easier to get done and off the books and using some of those cases to help build the cases against the middle and higher ups. These latter cases are more complex and those people will have more high powered lawyers and will keep the cases in the courts longer. They are trying to get the cases out of the way that will clear quickly.

It's so amazingly easy to armchair quarterback this, but they have mountains of evidence and sources to sift through and man-years worth of work to get through it all. All of the smaller cases will help build the case for the bigger cases, so they are working diligently.

Oh hey look something else that Garland is doing.

If this is true (I don’t know how reliable Vice is), someone must have flipped. They say they have Roger Stone’s encrypted chats with the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys. https://www.vice.com/en/article/wxn5k5/roger-stone-chat-proud-boys-oath-keepers-jan-6?utm_source=reddit.com

I’m sure there’s nothing interesting there.
