US Capitol Breached by Trump's lunatics - The Commision Thread

Just because threats were discovered in DHS doesn’t mean it gets shared with Congress. There is little information sharing between executive and legislative branches.

So, the question that needs to be asked..... "Did the Sergeant at Arms consult with Pelosi about security and she declined to have additional security there because of optics?"
Recall...... she was NOT happy to see National Guard at Lafayette Square during the summer protests and riots or anywhere else the guard was deployed. She referred to it as the "increased militarization" of police.

You can ask the question, but ultimately, the President controls the National Guard. He put people in place that stonewalled and ignored the pleas to send them in a timely manner.

And....why doesn't McConnell, who oversaw the Senate Seargent at Arms, have the same questions directed to him?

Stanger and McConnell didn’t want to look bad by having a strong police showing.

That is the story. There was an intentional or unintentional lack of security at the Capitol, given what was known publicly.

It needs to not be repeated. At the same time, you don't want a Trump friendly military covering the US Capitol to foster a coup, either.

Capitol security is provided by the sergeants-at-arms , who are the chief law enforcement officers for the House and Senate, in coordination with the Capitol Police, a federal law enforcement agency.

The House sergeant-at-arms reports to the speaker of the House, or Pelosi at the time of the attack. The Senate sergeant-at-arms reports to the Senate majority leader; in the days leading up to and including Jan. 6, that was Kentucky Republican Mitch McConnell.

The chain of command for Capitol security does include Pelosi, but it does not fall solely to her.

In case anyone else is curious, I went to this link and it literally disproves the PP’s rather silly and political claims. It’s a great link, by the way. I just don’t think the PP actually read it.

Again, if those threats were known in the Executive Branch Agencies; it doesn’t mean they were shared with or known in the Legislative Branch! The two branches are separate.

Did the executive branch withhold information from congress about security threats?
I want an answer to that.
What was withheld? If information was shared how was framed? Was it downplayed?
We need answers.

And yet the Republicans claim that investigating this is politicizing it.

Caught the last bit of Liz Cheney’s speech on the radio. Any link - want to hear it all.

USCP Sgt Gonell (an Army vet who served almost 2 years in Iraq) is tearful while testifying.

They cannot share information with Legislative Branch due to legal and structural reasons. Ahead of the inauguration after 1/6, I know that there was an exception made (not sure what legal strings were pulled) and legislative branch security folks got a briefing.
