That’s two Republicans willing to do the bare minimum. Poor showing in general for the party, but good for Cheney and Kinsinger in this specific instance (I hesitate to praise GOP for anything).

I would never vote for Kinsinger or Cheney (don't have the same beliefs) but I have to give them all the credit for being willing to get to the bottom of what happened on January 6. I applaud them for not being sucked into the Trump Cult. Wish more Republicans were like them. They need to stay in Congress while the others get thrown out.

Agree, especially for Kinzinger. His own relatives have been horrible to him.

If Pelosi were responsible for the National Guard protecting the US Capitol (she wasn''t) then why did McCarthy call Trump on 1/6 to get the Guard there?

Capitol security is provided by the sergeants-at-arms , who are the chief law enforcement officers for the House and Senate, in coordination with the Capitol Police, a federal law enforcement agency.

The House sergeant-at-arms reports to the speaker of the House, or Pelosi at the time of the attack. The Senate sergeant-at-arms reports to the Senate majority leader; in the days leading up to and including Jan. 6, that was Kentucky Republican Mitch McConnell.

The chain of command for Capitol security does include Pelosi, but it does not fall solely to her.

So, the question that needs to be asked..... "Did the Sergeant at Arms consult with Pelosi about security and she declined to have additional security there because of optics?"
Recall...... she was NOT happy to see National Guard at Lafayette Square during the summer protests and riots or anywhere else the guard was deployed. She referred to it as the "increased militarization" of police.
