Oh yeah that's longer, my bad |
Or, some of you could try reading. The FAA policy says that all 4 options are equally weighted, so no, none of the 4 options released are real, because they each weigh only one of the 4 FAA priorities |
Exactly, and with the program analysis likely to move high performing programs to Woodward and perhaps Crown, the FARMS disparity between the high schools will increase. It's the 1970s all over again. |
Do you work for MCPS or Flo Analytics? |
How are schools allocated money within the county? Is it just a per-student fixed amount, with adjustments for higher needs kids? |
Where are you getting that idea? |
EML numbers can be really complicated to compare in high school since it’s an entrance/exit program that actually begins in K. Seems like FARMS is a more reliable data point. |
+1 |
Every option would put Einstein under capacity which benefits us. Option 3 seems to be the only option that would reduce the FARMS rate at Einstein, but not by much. Option 2 would significantly increase the FARMS rate at Einstein. I don't like Options 1 or 4 because they leave Wheaton so high over capacity and as a taxpayer that strikes me as a very inefficient use of resources. No idea if they would keep the DCC but if they did it would be nice if Wheaton was a option in the choice process that isn't horribly overcrowded or unmanageable as a campus given its size and the proposal to also have kids walk to Edison for class. |
If they do they are knowingly spreading misinformation. The word "equally" is nowhere to be found in Policy FAA. It actually states: "When developing recommendations for the Board, the superintendent of schools will provide a rationale for each recommendation that demonstrates the extent to which any recommendation advances the factors below. While each of the factors will be considered, it may not be feasible to reconcile each and every recommendation with each and every factor." |
That's DCUM motto: Spreading misinformation. |
The FAA policy say they will consider all 4 factors, not weight them equally. But I agree - the boundary options will change come fall, not just because they will weight factors differently from now, but also because the programs analysis will be out this month and will have an impact on the boundary study. |
Pardon my total ignorance, but what is the program analysis? |
The program analysis is being done by MCPS itself to determine what programs will be offered regionally and county wide. More info here: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/academic-programs-analysis/ |
