M&D Black is the premier brand. |
Every player would generally expect to play approximately half the game when there is a full roster. |
How do other programs handle this? Most programs don't do half game play time for middle school but wondering if that changes for most or all programs for high school. Maybe won-loss record and rankings are important for programs in middle school --crazy as that sounds since the goal is for the girls to develop--but college placements are more important for club programs in high school? |
Many or most of the high school club tournaments are non-advancing showcases. In my experience, even the good Baltimore teams try to share share playing time, though it does seem to me Capital splits more evenly that some of those teams, who may play their top players noticeably more than half the game. |
Literally no one would talk about Capital re: any of this if Capital folks didn't continuously troll an 8th grade team and their families. As you are doing. If your kid is on Capital now, you should concern yourself with how they can get better, not worse with every result. |
I hear it’s generally 50/50 since their concern is not about the record. Good for development and they will be seen by the girls’ coach/school of interest especially when they are watching. |
All of the top Maryland clubs give everyone playing time at the high school level. it may not be exactly 50/50, but no one is sitting for entire halves or games. |
It will be interesting to see if this holds true for Capital for 2028's this summer. They are not in the top 2 brackets for the tournaments that matter due to their ranking. It is a delicate balance for coaches to give equal playing time but also be competitive in games so that the team is in the top brackets where most coaches will be watching. Capital is still a good brand name and coaches go to lower brackets to see players they are interested in, but if equal playing time will cause the team to fall further in the rankings they may have to reconsider. |
Well, I guess it's a good thing the college coaches won't be watching the 2028s until the summer of 2026. It's all about the 2027s this summer, but I think you probably already knew that when you wrote the post. |
Best of luck to mnddc this weekend! |
The 27's are in the same boat, and probably on an outer field as a kicker. Capital seems ok with their new standing, so they'll probably just ask you to trust the process (at a lesser school). |
Colgate here we come! |
Not being in a top 2 brackets isn't a big deal in recruiting. Not being in a top 4 bracket is. At most tourneys, they set it up so the top 4 brackets all play at different times. Now if you are in brackets 5 or 6, then you will be playing at the same time as some of the top teams and it will really impact coach attendance. |
Not in the top bracket…downhill from there. All of the Capital cheerleaders have been screaming about college recruiting and A brackets. Now you are saying they are in the B bracket and the next person says “who cares, nobody is looking”. The excuses just don’t stop, it is comical at this point. |
Can anyone explain to me how all of this talk of the 2027 and 2028 teams is relevant to the 2029s? I don't get it. |
