Opening arguments maybe. I would
not expect closing before next week.

Opening arguments were in April. Do you mean jury deliberations? I would guess verdict on Monday or Tuesday

There is no such thing as an opening argument.

Openings are statements of what the evidence will show and setting forth the party's theory of the case. Closings are arguments over the evidence that was actually admitted and why it proves the party's theory of the case. Basic trial procedure 101.

This is so smug. Plus, any good trial lawyer knows youโ€™re always arguing to the jury.

Signed, someone who has given more openings than you

"The defense has argued Read's vehicle did not hit O'Keefe and instead said O'Keefe was attacked by a dog and beaten by other people who were in the house before he was thrown out in the snow to die." Then the crime was pinned on karen because they talked crap on her in text message. This was the defenses defense.

Because that seems way more likely than read hitting him with the car. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

The defense doesnโ€™t have to prove anything only raise reasonable doubt of which there is plenty because there was no investigation on this case. Hopefully a quick verdict of not guilty comes on Monday

What a childish comment.

All the evidence says yes, that is more likely. But no one thinks he was dragged out. He probably walked out drunk and battered and passed out in the snow.

Nothing the homeowners did helps the case against Read. They are sus as hell. Without all their weird behavior, this case might have had a chance. They blew it. And as cops, I have a hard time believing they would risk letting that happen unless they were hiding their own crimes.

As a juror I would vote NG on charge 1, Guilty on charge 2, and NG on charge 3. I just donโ€™t think she intended to kill him or thought what she did killed him. No one leaving all those crazy angry voice messages is aware they already killed the guy.

Here are the specific charges:

Did you listen to the closings? I would have said the same, but the points made in the defense closing would prevent me from even getting to guilty on the DUI charge.

They screwed up this investigation so badly. I am usually not a good harbinger of what a group of people will think or do, so I think it could go either way, but the defense case for reasonable doubt seemed extremely strong.

I agree! WTF total conspiracy theories are more believable in this day and age? She hit him that's how he got the head injury and died it's literally as simple as that. To convict they only have to find 5 reasonable things and they have it for at least 2 possibly 3 of the charges. I heard the instructions. Let's hope they jury has brains.

The only conspiracy theory is you not believing in science and physics. His injuries are not compatible with a car strike. Bye bye.

This. The fact is Proctor immediately pinned this on Karen with no investigation. The physics of what they claimed happen do not add up. The CW did not prove their case.

IMO The CW proved that it might have happened that way but thatโ€™s not enough. I think the gang at Fairview and the PD with their shenanigans helped fuel the fire of reasonable doubt. If they had done everything by the book they might have a chance to convict.

They proved it happened to me. The car black box and cell phone data along with Johns head injury. Karens car drove backwards at 25 MPH and John's phone stopped moving stayed there getting colder until the morning. Done. She hit him he died right there. She admits she might have hit him so many times. It's just too easy.

Explain the arm injuriesโ€ฆ explain why he has no broken bones. Explain the phone activity after he was hit. Oh you canโ€™t? Reasonable doubt.

"Might" so even the accused has reasonable doubt, amiright?
