| Just a medium rare filet. Maybe a gin martini too, but I’m undecided if I’ll drink while I wait for the steak. If no martini, just sparkling water. Absolutely no other food or sides. Just craving a good steak. I’ll tip 20 to 25%, of course. |
| It's fine. |
| Nope. But also, it's okay to be weird. |
| Is it weird to order steak in an establishment that specializes in serving steak? Is that your question? |
| Of course. |
| I meant of course not. |
| No, this is not weird. Why would it be weird? Are you concerned about sitting at the bar and not eating alcohol? Or sitting at the bar and only ordering one food item? I don't get your concern, it's 100 percent fine. |
*drinking* not eating |
| I’ve definitely done that during solo business trips. You’re good OP |
I assume 99.9% of steakhouse patrons get apps, soup, salad and/or sides — at least frites. I only want a steak. Literally just a filet on a plate. |
Steakhouse sides are sized to be shared, and people often don't get them if they are dining alone. Is this your first time at a steakhouse, or dining out at all? |
Just throwing it out there - get a different cut. A filet is a steak for someone who doesn't really like steak. |
I don’t think anyone will care. And you’re not tying up a table if you sit at the bar. Tip well and you’re fine. |
I don’t mind eating solo at a bar, especially if you get there early enough and the bar has a lot of empty seats. I’m kind of hung up on the only ordering a filet. No sides, no soup, no app, and possibly no booze. |
I love steak. I’ve tried em all. Filet remains my favorite. And I don’t like cutting around a bone or fat. Sorry, I can’t be converted. Many have tried over the years. |
