![]() https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/05/politics/road-to-270-electoral-votes-2024/index.html CNN — CNN’s inaugural “Road to 270” electoral map shows President Joe Biden struggling to recreate his Electoral College majority from his successful 2020 run and former President Donald Trump with enough states solidly in his corner or leaning in his direction to put him in a position to win the presidency again. This first look at a potential Biden vs. Trump rematch – and the electoral math each would need to capture 270 electoral votes – captures the dynamics at play 10 months from Election Day. Biden is an incumbent president with stubbornly low approval ratings, persistent questions and concerns about his ability to serve another term, and diminished support from some key components of his winning coalition from 2020. Biden has made a mistake. He said when he ran in 2020 he would only serve one term, then bow out. He is putting our democracy at risk. Rest in power Justice Ginsberg, but she did us a disservice by not stepping down and it seems Biden will follow her lead. I know it’s early. I know polls are notoriously unreliable. Still, this is troubling. > |
Unlikely to be close from an electoral college standpoint. CNN will need to spend a great deal of time on election night explaining the difference between a constitutional republic and a democracy as the person with fewer overall votes is declared the victor. |
Sure cnn. The people of Mich and PA and Wis are going to go with a forced birther. Sure they are. |
It will be at least 300 electoral votes for Trump. |
Maybe so. The silver lining would be that he'd enter the White House as a lame duck, and the 4-year countdown starts with respect to finally being done with him forever. The GOP will soon start jockeying for their place in a post-Trump world. He'll quickly become irrelevant, obviously steal as much as he can, etc. And it'll be up to the next President (Democrat or Republican) to fix everything he breaks. But it'll finally be over. |
Oy vey, here we go again.
OP, we need to look at these “predictions” in their full context. Since Trump came on the scene Democrats have over preformed and out raised Republicans in almost every election. Democrats have been taking back state and local gov’ts (VA 2021 was an outlier due to suburban womens frustration about schools during COVID). They’ve won TWO Senate seats in Georgia, flipped red seats in WA & AK, and slowed the Red Wave of 2022 to a trickle. In OH, NC, TX, Democrats are contesting Every. Single. State. Senate seat and most state legislatures seats. Heck, even Dems in Arkansas had a blowout filing season. What does that mean? It’s REAL LIFE DATA showing real enthusiasm, money, and organization for Democrats. Counter this with the piss poor filings of GOP in the same states. Democrats have over performed in Special Elections, flipping seats or at least forcing GOP to spend money. This isn’t nothing. Yes, many would like Biden to be younger - his ONLY negative because he’s been a darn good president and gave us an incredible soft landing to COVID, something no other comparable country has achieved. Wages are up, inflation, gas, rents, crime, are down. We’re not at war (no people, supporting our allies, no matter how flawed that may be, does not mean we are at war). What does Trump bring? Chaos, abortion bans, cozying up to dictators. Promises of sEcuRinG the BorDer are empty just like his GREATEST HEALTHCARE PLAN EVER. When voters are given the clear choice, Biden will win. And if you are concerned, volunteer and donate. You can start by giving Biden a few bucks which will get you on the mailing list for more opportunities. If you live in a swingy state, support a candidate running for state gov. Lots of evidence that getting folks to vote down ballot helps the top of the ticket, not the other way around. If you STILL don’t know how to help, STOP putting negative garbage out. This only playing into people thinking Trump is inevitable and they stay home. Joe Biden has been a good president, the country is better off, the Democratic Party is strong. I’d rather be us than them. |
Trump can win and then run for re-election. The prohibition is on three conservative terms, not three terms |
Wrong. President can serve 2 elected 4 year terms plus get an addition 2 in the role. For example, person assumes the presidency through line of succession with 2 or less years remaining in term. Person can then go on to serve 2 elected terms. Really need to do a better job in schools explaining how the US Government works. |
"Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term." Also, magnets work in water. Just in case you're wondering. |
If Trump wins the WH the GOP will have until 2029 to figure out how to keep him there.
Or have him appoint the next POTUS. |
Operation vacate this country shall commence
I cannot with this idiocy |

+1 |
Nah, I don't believe this at all. I understand all the laws that Trump has broken, but he's not getting past this one. The GOP will start positioning among themselves for 2029. Aside, I really don't think he'll still be alive in 2028. He's deteriorating fast. At his age and weight, he's on borrowed time and living day-to-day at this point. |
You said that in 2016. |
