What kind do you take and what benefits have you had from taking it? |
I take the Thorne brand. Right now I’ve been putting it in my water when I lift weights. Not sure if I notice anything but maybe my arms look a little more toned. |
Thx how does it taste? |
Tasteless |
My son is a soccer player and he started taking it because it was supposed to increased, strength, endurance, etc and IT DID! But he also felt that it bulked him up too much so he stopped...so I started taking it... at 50 years old. : ) I honestly don't know HOW MUCH it helps. But I'd say it certainly helps. I have seen gains everywhere. Strength, muscle mass, etc etc but I'm not sure how much of that I would have gained without creatine, so it's hard to say. It's supposed to help with recovery, brain health, and other things as well.
I started with Thorne but then they ran out of creapure micronized version so I switched to Nutricost. Both unflavored. They were both recommended by people I trust and I've been happy with it. I take 5g a day either with my protein shake after I lift or, if it's a non lift day, I'll take it in the morning by adding it to my yogurt after a walk or something. I've have zero ill effects. No cramping. No stomach issues. Nothing. Time to get my other son on it now that he's entering HS. He's a football player. |
It'll hurt your kidneys. Horrible idea to encourage it. |
Link to your claims, otherwise this is a useless comment |
Creatine works by improving recovery time and supposedly, helping to prevent injury, hence you can lift more.
I am a 48 year old woman. In the loading stage, I took it every day for two weeks. Dob't worry about gaining weight...you will, but it is only water because one of the way it works is by having your muscles absorb water so that they APPEAR more bulky initially. When you get to maintenance, once or twice a week is fine and the water weight will disappear. Like anything else, the gains are made by lifting heavy and eating balanced protein and carbs for energy, recovery, and growth. |
I'm a man who lifts and am interested, but still have all my hair at 47 and would sacrifice muscle to keep it. Am I paranoid? |
I've never heard that you can drop to once or twice a week and still reap the benefits. Any articles to share with this info? Thanks |
Most effective during maintenance phase is daily, but creatine stays in system for quite a while, so you can dose on days of heavy lifting. Of course...this does change if you have a LARGE muscle mass, in which case you do need larger doses daily. But a woman like me lifting three times a week can take it three times a week and get some naturally from diet. |
I focus on getting high quality protein from natural foods in my diet…venison, chicken, eggs, pork, beef, turkey, Greek yogurt, nuts and nut butters. Not convinced that I want to start this creatine supplement. I lift 3 days a week, run 15-20 miles a week. 55 year old female. |
My husband just had bloodwork and he has slightly low creatine so I am looking for a supplement for him and after researching I might try it was well. What is "Creature micronized"? Where do you buy Nutricost? online or in a store? |
Jeez, don't play doctor. Low serum creatinine doesn't mean that he needs to take a supplement. It means he doesn't have much muscle mass. He doesn't need to take a creatinine supplement, he needs to do some weight bearing activity. |
Are you sure that wasn't CREATININE? Not the same thing, and it's creatinine that is on standard bloodwork panels. |
