How often do you clean your house? This will be a confession no judgment zone

| I am way too embarrassed to answer this. Sigh. |
I have house cleaners and they dont do baseboards or windows

around once a quarter, but always before parties |
| I use fly lady as a guide. |
kitchen light fixture every other month, bedroom ceiling fans - when I can see the gunk! |
: we only have light fixtures from this list, and about twice a year I take the glass fixtures down and clean them I pay my kids to clean, so it happens every weekend. |

To be fair, I have started to get a house cleaner for random deep cleans (I will have had 2 this year), but I will still answer... 3 bed/2.5 bath house, 2 adults, no kids.
Floors: Vacuum once a week or two, mop maybe once a month or when dirty. Bathrooms: DH cleans the toilets, I do the floor when I do the other floors. Idk with what frequency he does the toilets, but before people come over for sure lol Really scrub shower/tubs: Like, never? Change bed sheets: Whenever we remember... like once a month. This one is the one I want to change the most, and am actually planning to wash everything today lol. Dust: Not very often... Like once every 6 mons or something. Inside of oven/microwave: Oven, rare. Maybe once a year. Inside of microwave doesnt get too dirty, but I clean it about once a month. We dont use a microwave often and always use a little cover. Windows: Once every few years Mirrors: Hmm also not often. Stairways: Nothing special about the stairway except its carpet, so it gets vacuumed with the rest of the floor. Empty out and scrub fridge: I do a fridge clean out maybe once a month and do a little wipe out. Ive been here for 10 years and only ever "scrubbed" everything down once when the freezer went and we had to pull everything out anyways. Garage floors: n/a Baseboards: Basically never, but I did see a fun trick on how to do them easily with a rag and broom. Fans/blinds/light fixtures: No fans, no blinds (curtains), and I can honestly say I dont know if I've ever "cleaned" the light fixtures, but have dusted them a few times. I built new, and the house does not get as dusty as my older home. But I recognize I'm pretty slobby in most aspects LOL. One of the reasons I got a professional deep clean was to tackle some of these and try to develop some good habits. My mom was a borderline hoarder and was not clean or tidy, so I never learned some of these basic skills... My husband likes a clean house but his mom did 150% of everything, which I cannot do. |

As needed! So bathrooms are pretty frequent (weekly) because they get gross, but a very thorough tub scrub is maybe 4-6 weeks. I sweep or vacuum somewhere almost every day, but mopping is, um, almost never? We change bed sheets every 1-2 weeks.
Everything else is when I look at it and say "eww" and then I do it. So, maybe once a year?! |
I have cleaners and they do not change bedsheets, clean inside of oven, empty out and scrub fridge, sweep garage floor or dust fans |

Floors: Once every two weeks I mop the kitchen floor and vacuum the carpets every week. Unfortunately we have hideous carpets over most of our home. I can't wait to tear them out and replace them with hardwood floors.
Bathrooms: Once a week Really scrub shower/tubs: Like once a month. Not nearly as often as I should. Change bed sheets: For me and DH, once every two weeks. For kids, every week. Dust: LOL. Not often. When I notice things getting really dusty. Inside of oven/microwave: Oven - never. I don't even know how to clean it. Microwave once every month. Windows: I windex whenever I see smudges on them from the kids putting their faces up against the window. Mirrors: Same as above Stairways: (see floor cleaning schedule) Empty out and scrub fridge: Once a year. Again, lol. Garage floors: That's DH's job. Once a year? Baseboards: Never. Probably need to get on that. Fans/blinds/light fixtures: When they start looking really dusty - every few months |

I love you OP -- I usually hate cleaning thread on this site because most posters are like "oh I never scrub my toilet" because their maid does it.
Anyway, this is for a 1200 sq ft row house with 2 adults, one elementary age child, and one cat: Floors: Vacuumed twice weekly (more if it needs it), mopped weekly using Bona spray mop, deep cleaned like every other year. We are a no shoes household and cat is an indoor cat. Bathrooms: Weekly, sometimes I do a quick midweek clean of the toilets as well. Really scrub shower/tubs: Monthly Change bed sheets: Weekly Dust: Weekly Inside of oven/microwave: Oven twice a year, microwave on an as-needed basis, probably once every couple weeks Windows: Yearly, sometimes I get ambitious and do it twice a year but not often Mirrors: Weekly Stairways: Same as floors Empty out and scrub fridge: Twice yearly Garage floors: No garage Baseboards: Monthly-ish. Really what happens is that I ignore them until we are hosting people, and then suddenly I'll realize the baseboards are dusty and I will incorporate them into my pre-hosting vacuum. Fans/blinds/light fixtures: Ugh, I'm the worst at this. Light fixtures in the kitchen get cleaned every few months and I pay attention to how dirty they are. Ceiling fans in bedrooms I probably remember once every three months. But a lot of light fixtures in the house go years and then I'll think "Huh I wonder how bad it is" and friends, it's usually pretty bad. Oops. |

Floors: Foot mop with towel 1-2x/week
Bathrooms: Just cleaned them (2x week) Really scrub shower/tubs: I spray tub walls with bleach spray once a week, that keeps them pretty clean Change bed sheets: once a week, or every other week Dust: 2x/week Inside of oven/microwave: oven after holidays when we cook big (win-sum), and microwave when something explodes like a burrito Windows: we powerwash from the outside every season (we have our own powerwasher, very great investment). wipe down inside of individual windows as needed (we have pets, so) Mirrors: as needed Stairways: I vacuum stairs once a week and vacuum stairs every few weeks Empty out and scrub fridge: 2 times a year full, otherwise just sections as needed (teen's drink leaked, let's do that small section all the way) Garage floors: hah, no! sweep occasionally. I spend more time on floors in laundry room. Put big mat mat on floor so I can see all lint Baseboards: as needed, I am wiping someone once a week, small sections Fans/blinds/light fixtures: wipe fans as needed (I look up for dust, have point at which I wipe); light fixtures 1-2x/year; blinds...wood blinds are easy to wipe, the bendy metals ones? If the dust is that bad, we just buy new ones and replace. They get bent if you clean them. |
