DA vs ECNL vs everything else

I figure this specific topic of player movement is going to come to light pretty soon, so no use getting people riled up now.

Does anyone know about a vote coming up for NCAA women's soccer recruiting rules / timing?

What are the 04 and below VDA, Mclean, BRYC, Loudoun ECNL'ers doing next year?

Staying ECNL are looking to join 1 of 3 DA's?

In addition to all the other reasons that are often mentioned, just look at the schedules.

Here's McLean's ENCL 04s: http://www.eliteclubsnationalleague.com/mid-atlantic-schedule-2017-18/

Total of 14 games during the whole year -- 7 each in the Fall and Spring. In between, that's a lot of weekends off.

By comparison, this is Wash Spirit VA's 04s: http://wsav.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=3952300

Total of 25 games throughout the year -- 13 in the Fall, 12 in the Spring. Pretty much one game every weekend during the seasons.

Have you looked at the league/division structures and tried to compare those distance wise for each option? We are looking at both McLean's ECNL and Spirit for next year. Ignoring the frequency of travel because Spirit plays more games, does one option have a schedule that requires shorter travel on average for any given game? TIA.

Mclean makes the same trips as we do at BRYC.......we make 3 trips: 1 to Raleigh to play NCFC, 1 trip to Charlotte/Greensboro NC (Carolina Rapids and NC Fusion in back to back days), and 1 trip to Columbia/Greer SC (CESA and SC United)............depending on the age group you are also playing in the National Showcases. Other than that the only travel was a game to richmond and 1 to Mclean. BRYC kids travel by bus with chaperones to all of the games other than Mclean. Parents choose whether to attend or not on those away games. if they do go, they are in their own hotel room as the girls all stay together.

Don't want to be bringing up old stuff...but ECNL teams are barely playing any games compared to the DA teams. One less practice a week, half the games a season, large travel times, and almost the same cost. Yeah, makes sense that people are choosing DA over ECNL

Seeing ECNL kids at DA ID Sessions and DA kids at ECNL sessions. I wouldn't be surprised to see alot of movement at all of those ages going both ways.

^^^ Please give it a rest. I don't know that many girls going for DA, especially in MD. Bethesda is not losing players to DA and even if they lose one or two, that does not impact the rest of the team. DA is a great option but don't try to oversell the experience. I doubt any of the DA teams could beat a strong Bethesda, McLean or Loudon ECNL.

Where are the people saying that the top Non-ECNL/DA teams can't compete in ECNL/DA? Sorry to piss on your views but you are clueless. Sure, Arlington beat the bottom teams in DA but that is the point. Arlington and other clubs have the ability to beat the bottom half of these leagues while competing with the top half. DA/ECNL do not capture all of the talent.

Give what a rest. You're worried about your daughters team collapsing as kids flee for DA?

VA clubs were mentioned but reading comprehension is overrated. ECNL teams in VA for 04 and below are weakening. They were already weak anyways.

LOUDOUN ECNL doesn't even exist...they all went DA. Such a clown with no knowledge base. Stay north of the Potomac.

Do your research. DA schedules online capture every tournament and showcase games. ECNL schedules do not. DA plays more games total but the disparity isnt as wide as it appears. Horses for courses, you choose.

Playing 3-4 games in 2 days to make up for the year long disparity doesn't cut it. It's like not eating for a week before vacation in order to lose weight. Losing battle.

8:55, Show me a competitive DA team in the area. Show me how Bethesda or McLean ECNL have suffered. Show where Arlington suffered prior to the announcement. You can keep drinking the DA cool-aid but that does not mean that DA is still unprovien. I will gladly stay north of the Potomac where we are not lemmings following the latest fad. Get a clue!

I question the insanity of the money grab infrastructure but do recognize that DA and ECNL offer a great experience for some girls. Fot those who can't afford it, don't live near a DA/ECNL club or don't have either the time or resources to travel up and down I-95 every weekend, there are other great teams which included Arlington and Loudon. BTW, there are six GU-17 teams from the DMV ranked in the top 25 and only two are ECNL and one of those, Bethesda, is ranked at the bottom. Navy Premier, Mclean, Arlington, FC Frederick, Loudon and Bethesda are all nationally ranked. Even if you assumed that all DA programs are ranked ahead of them which is nonsense, they are still ranked among the top teams in the nation. They are elite and you are a moron.

Have you watched Arlington play? It is high-pressure and kickball. Good for winning games and worthless GotSoccer points and rankings, but they aren't developing soccer players. Maybe that changes with some accountability coming from the DA.
