Oh look, we have our very own Freedom Caucus supporter right here! Cute.

Why should McCarthy ascend simply for being McCarthy? He doesn’t have the votes. And thank you for the complement. I do support freedom, including free speech, right to bear arms, etc. Y’know the Constitution,

And he can't even spell compliment

Stop misgendering me And when I don’t have a full cup of coffee in me, mistakes happen. C’est la vie.

Even rarer: a female Freedom Caucuser! There, there. You can stop whimpering. Today is sure to be a happy day for you - full of the drama and nonsense you love. None of the actual legislating.

The problem IS the legislating

Members-elect should also acknowledge all the members of Congress who, on that day two years ago, worked to keep our democratic republic alive. AND SPECIFICALLY thank Kevin McCarthy for his attempt to stop the violence on that day, quoting his own words, “When they started breaking into my office, myself and the staff got removed from the office. In doing so, I made a phone call to the president telling him what was going on, asking him to tell these people to stop, to make a video, to go out. I was very intense and very loud about it." and reminding everyone of McCarthy’s concurrence with Mitch McConnell that January 6th was a “violent insurrection”.

And after that acknowledgment of McCarthy’s anti-insurrection stance (but not his subsequent back-tracking and Trump licking) just enough Democratic members-elect should vote for him to ensure his election as Speaker of the House on this anniversary of the January 6 Insurrection.

The combination of Democratic votes and an on-the-record, highly visible reminder of his (admittedly brief) stance against Trump and other insurrectionists will erase whatever remains of McCarthy’s ability to lead the Republican party and the House … from the very first day of his Speakership.

Not quite. McCarthy then flew to Mar-a-Lago to appease Trump. So he's a traitor, and he will not be helped.

If the Republicans want to vote for Hakeem Jeffries, they are free to do so.

The only choice? Won’t happen. What’s going to happen is eventually McCarthy will give the right concessions (including the ability of the Rs to toss him) or step aside so another Republican can be elected. Paul Ryan’s welching on his promises was a huge problem for the American people - he helped to get us in the mess we are in today. After this huge spending bill passed, I’ve had it. Done. Let them fight it out. THIS is what a Representative Republic looks like.

He gave that concession yesterday morning, PP. Keep up. This is why you know the FC is putting on a show. They got what they wanted, but they keep moving the goal posts just to throw their weight about and block all useful processes.

No tears for McCarthy, of course, that rat. But from the Democratic point of view, this is all a waste of time.

That’s not all they want

The founding fathers life expectancy was 38. They didn't have electricity or indoor plumbing. It took soldiers 1-2 minutes to load ONE shot into their rifle. The founding fathers would not recognize the world today let alone expect their initial pass at the governing rules to still be in complete effect.

I must say, she spells very well for a MAGA. Only one mistake in 3 posts makes her a Mensa candidate for MAGA.

Does my advanced tech degree elevate me as well?

Why does the GOP want McCarthy? He's essentially guaranteed nothing is going to get done and the government is going to shut down on the next debt ceiling talks.

That's one year out from the next presidential election, the GOP is going to own the shut down and the fact nothing gets done.

Maybe the people in these districts will wake up and not re-elect these bozos. Hope springs eternal.

More importantly, Will Representatives get paid?

There may be an argument for a “placeholder speaker” (a moderate Dem) to swear in members, agree on non controversial rules, and make sure the “little people” are taken care of. basically keep the emergency lights on and figure out the rest.

Once that happens, it is done. Any GOP that would go along with that will be shunned by their party.

The destruction is the point. It is what Russia has paid for. The entire party is corrupt.

They want the dismantling of American democracy, but if we give them that, it's game over, so that particular goal, or any of the tools the reach that goal, should be unreachable for them.

I wish the Democrats would call his bluff and let him resign.

We all know he wouldn't actually resign. If was a figure of speech.
