Queen Elizabeth II

People didn't like Kate and although she was just a young girl , she was brutally criticized because she was a commoner and not good enough for future king. However, she won everyone, including family and media. It must be tough for her but she handles it like a pro. She's been with him since their teen years, their connection is strong. She is a real asset for him.

If Kate, Camilla and Meghan had wealthy aristocratic background, they would've been treated differently by the firm and the media.

Kate, like Camilla, survived the gauntlet. That seems to win people over in the long run. It's like a hazing ritual for the newbies. You must prove your worth.

I thought Camilla was an aristocrat

The Queen went to extreme lengths to protect Andrew as much as she could, which is disgusting. She didn’t see Andrew sleeping with a trafficked teenager as being a pedaphile. The Queen was not a good role model for women and often accepted and condoned womanizing and predatory behavior.

I think it’s likely that she had previously planned for no one to be in uniform other than Charles so that Andrew wouldn’t be embarrassed. I suspect Charles and William changed this as they rightfully hate Andrew. Throwing Harry under this bus was just icing on the cake for William.

This is a very dysfunctional family.

Camilla had a wealthy aristocratic background. Kate’s family was solidly middle class on her father’s side and two of her aunts worked at Bletchley, a bastion of educated women. Kate’s mother is a self made millionaire who guided Kate’s relationship with William. Kate has a desirable blend of her father’s solid Englishness and her mother’s scrappy financial nous. She is well educated and does her job well.

That is the Queen's motto.
The Queen is no longer here.

The cortège images were so moving.

Yea but that’s the American view (and a little bit rosier than reality). British aristos are not impressed by someone being self-made.

Yeah, you are right. Her children and grandchildren didn’t learn any lessons from her and won’t in any way try to honor her example now that she’s gone. It’s like she never existed. /s

She didn’t do anything to win anyone over. She just got relentlessly sugary press coverage. Not sure why that’s the case (other than the whole bot gate thing covered in The NY Times).

Well they didn’t learn that particular one

And Charles is always sending sources to whine to the press about stuff.

There was the whole "doors to manual" thing because Kate's mother was a flight attendant. And "waity Katie".

Don't forget the nickname "Wisteria sisters" to describe Kate and Pippa.
