Which schools are becoming more popular? Any surprises?

Title says it all.

all southern big state schools

Tennessee was wildly popular at our Hs last year, joining the existing popularity of colleges like UGA, South Carolina, Alabama, etc

Big Ten schools. Indiana seems really popular. And more high stat students who want computer science or engineering are looking at Purdue and Illinois. Michigan staying very desirable.

Vanderbilt & Northeastern became a trend.

It seems people are backing off NE lately.

I have one already in college who applied during the big SEC/southern schools wave. Seems like the safety schools in the south became so popular they are now far more selective.

I have another kid starting their college search on the heels of their upperclassmen pals, and while the southern schools remain popular, there is an uptick in popularity among schools out west: CA, WA, and OR.

Minnesota is next big rolling admissions school.

Georgia Tech for very smart students.

South and West are increasing in popularity. Northeast is declining in popularity.

Last two years, yes. This year it’s really dropping off a lot of lists at our HS/neighborhood. Due to housing issues and ratings games.

If only kids were actually living at that urban campus all 4 years…

Yeah, this really turned off my son. When we visited last spring our tour guide, a junior, had spent only 1 semester on campus (last spring was her second). And I don’t just mean living on campus, I mean attending classes. Between the non-voluntary study abroad and the emphasis on coops, the Boston campus seemed an afterthought. My son went in very keen and after our visit crossed it off his list.

NE is definitely a joke now. Big uptick in Big 10 (IU for sure, WI still hot and hard to get into) and CO back.

Hearing OR a lot now too. Much less the Clemson, Auburn schools.

In DC so state schools are popular.

My kid was direct admit but planning to do one Study abroad, one Summer internship, and one coop. All important aspects anyways.
