I keep reading horror stories about kangaroos punching people and stealing dogs. Today I read an article that showed this dead-eyed kangaroo, standing over a dog he was drowning for fun, looking like a psychopathic, roided-out mutant rabbit. No one is talking about this. On the contrary, we tell our kids that kangaroos are adorable and have cute baby pouches. What's with the kangaroo lobby selling us cute cartoons while our allies down under live in terror of these beasts? I can't be the only American to have undergone this slow and shocking realization that everything I'd been told about kangaroos is a lie.

As a biologist, I could tell you stories...
...particularly about dolphins and otters. Kangoroos are aggressive as well. Lots of species we find adorable aren't all that in real life. |
No kidding, that kanga had full on body builder guns for arms. |

the reason "we" aren't talking about it because the vast vast majority of we americans are never going to visit australia so it's a non issue for us. |
Oh please. We all read Winnie the Pooh and call it a Taoist masterpiece. Really it's just distorted pro-kanga PR to lull us into complacency. |
I mean you’re not wrong. Kangaroos are terrifying. But in fairness my aunt used to host foreign students who were shocked by the size of moose — rocky snd bulkwinkle had them convinced they were toy size or a very least only deer sized. So the propaganda goes both ways. |
This is great content. I will bump this thread until my head hurts. |
Also: Birds aren’t real. |
I think it speciesism - mammals just have a hard time accepting and including marsupials as equals … |
Well, they kind of are -- it's just that they are actually dinosaurs. |
It’s about time we had this thread. I thought I was the only one. |
otters? No...really? |
