Anyone start to develop unhealthy eating habits when dieting?

I’ve found anytime I do a really restrictive diet like whole 30 or keto I become obsessive about food and tend to binge eat. Example I have one oreo cheating then eat the sleeve and ice cream. Anyone else have this issue?

If I’m not dieting I have ZERO issue with portion control, tend to be fairly good at self moderating. I gained about 10 lbs on keto because I couldn’t adhere so I was eating a ton of fat and then would eat sugar at night so it was a big fail.

What diets have you not binged on? I need to lose 10 lbs. Just be mindful? write everything down?

I found my best bet for diets was just being mindful and knowing generally what foods I needed more of. Once I got a borderline anemic/prediabtetes blood test back and spent the next year loosely trying to choose red meat and leafy greens whenever I was ambivalent about what to eat — no real diet just instead of defaulting to what was cheapest or vegetarian (my previous defaults) I focused on iron rich foods and vegetables. I lost a few pounds that year and my blood work was apparently excellent. The times I’ve tried to be more restrictive in my eating have been exceeding short lived and ended in binging.

I get crazy by week 3. I start eating crap and cut everything else way back so my calorie count stays low.

This is why Americans are fatter than ever- this and the food supply. Restrictive diets are dysfunctional and don’t work. If you only need to lose 10 pounds, just tweak your exercise regime and give up alcohol or drinks with calories or dessert if you consume those. Then make peace with whatever few pounds remain.

Yes. Whole 30 made me kind of crazy, but I do fine with calorie counting.
