Title says it. I consider myself a POC, I’m not black though, I’m a Pacific Islander. How is POC defined these days? |
Anyone who isn't white. |

A Pacific Islander is a person of color. POC ≠ just someone that is black. |
Are Italians POC?
Or Japanese? |
POC is intentionally broad. It includes anyone who is not white. |
+1. Although at my work it means "point of contact" so that's always my first thought. |
No. Yes. |
Anyone not white. |
Yes. And Yes |
POC=a handy term to use when want to be seen as a oppressed class to take advantage of what African Americans acheived during the 20th century fight for civil rights, when that goal is not at hand, the POC term is discarded for "well in my country", "as an East Asian (which we hear a lot on this board)", etc. |
White is a color, technically speaking |
White is a color |
It's any person who is not considered white. Someone asked about Italians. I consider them white. |
