Great pivot. Great question. Back to the various clubs in the DMV/NoVa and how they can help your DD improve, have fun and hopefully support her in a positive way on her field hockey journey.

Hammers - loudonun county
Xtreme - Annandale/Springfield
AVA Magic - Alexandria (i dont think they have a u16 or u19 team yet but the certainly will soon)
Jackals - Springfield
Mustangs - McLean
SC Elite/SCAA Colts - this club JUST started and is very very new. It's mostly a rec club but they played indoor this winter and they have a spring league with local playdays and tournaments. out of south county athletic association.
Beyond Sticks - this is a great program and they approach club differently than the others. great for kids who play multiple sports and are learning the game. they sometimes play local games and scrimmages but they don't participate in competitive NIT indoor or spring RCCs (to my knowledge, please someone correct me if i am wrong).
Burke AC/SYA/SYC/Herndon/Mclean/Great Falls/Arlington - are rec clubs and they play fall and spring outdoor only. some only fall (arlington)

To add to the list, Jackals have a MD and an MD club.

Metro is also Loudoun-ish

Not considered NOVA but if you're in the Prince William County area and willing to drive to stafford or fredericksburg, Typhoon and High Voltage are two clubs in that area. unlikely choices but just wanted to add. Also, the above clubs can have multiple age groups but it really depends on the # of coaches available and if they have enough girls to field multiple teams. finding and retaining coaches is tough for these clubs due to the time commitment. I think Hammers and Xtreme have multiple age groups and maybe Mustangs and Jackals now that we lost a club in the area.

Could someone explain what RCCs is? I’ve seen it mentioned in some materials - is it a tournament.

RCCs or "Regional Club Championships" is the qualifying tournament for clubs to play at NCCs ("National Club Championships"). Clubs are split into regions based on location and you compete in your region to move on to nationals. SCAA is marketing SC Elite as their travel/competitive team. It's not even 4 months old at this point so it will take some time to develop. Serves as another playing option nonetheless! I think they also have an IG page with additional info.

Kind of a hike, but some players make the long drive to Maryland to play for Next Level.

Lots of players drive from Virginia to play for MD clubs - Freedom, Next Level, Washington Wolves, and Warhawks.

Their U19 team was at Mid-Atlantic league this weekend up in Delaware. They looked really strong.

U16 and U14 not so strong

U19 is the only strong team for metro. They lost 5 U14s last year because the owner is awful (they would have been U16 this year). Most are now on the top travel teams of other well known clubs. (Wolves, Warhawks, Next Level).
