Do you eat less? Order something " healthier " than you normally would? I go out to eat once or twice a week with DH and friends. In my 20s +30s, I always ordered a salad. Now, I figure I can make a salad at home and might order something else.
My question is if most of your friends are Size Zero or close and you are not..do you feel comfortable eating a bigger dish? |
| I don't have size zero friends but I will always order whatever I want no matter who is around |
| Split the bill and enjoy! |
Ha! Good one! |
| I'm a size zero (genetics) and I don't give two hoots about what my friends eat when we go out together. Get what you want! |

I eat what I want to eat.
If you feel really self-conscious about this, to the point where you aren’t going to have a good time because of this, I have a “strategy” that might work for you. I ignore the entrees altogether. I get an appetizer, and then a vegetable side or two, or a salad. So it’s like I get one vegetable-based dish that will nourish me, and one “fun” appetizer or side that will help me feel like I’m celebrating a fun night out. Or I see if the table is interested in a few apps, and then we all get a salad if that’s what sounds good to us. I’ve ordered a salad and a side of truffle fries “for the table,” and people cheer and maybe order another appetizer or side. |
Sounds like a good plan, and I like the size zero poster who does not care what her friends eat above. |
+1. I don't really care about or judge what people eat. |
| When my friends and I go out to eat (no matter what the size), we go out to enjoy food. We don’t put any restrictions on it unless there is a food allergy. |

Obese girl here. I order whatever I want.
I do tend to order healthier things than others, and sometimes people (rudely!) comment on it, but it's always just what I want. (For example I often order fish when out because I don't know how to cook it at home, and I always order a salad as a starter since I've had a salad with dinner pretty much every day my whole life since I grew up that way). |
| I'm a zero or 2 and I pray to the heavens above that my dining companions never give this thought a moment in the sun. |
| I try not to order more “things” than the general group because that seems a little rude/lacking in social consciousness. Like if everyone has one drink, I’m not going to order 3. But no, I’m not going to pretend I’m some virtuous not-hungry person at a restaurant and just order a cup of gazpacho as an entree. I’ll get what sounds good. If no one else wants dessert, I won’t make everyone sit and watch me eat dessert alone, but I will be slightly disappointed bc if it’s just me and DH I would always want dessert- I love it! |
| I’m a size 2 and my girlfriends and I usually end up just ordering a bunch of stuff to share. I love a dinner of apps/salad plus save room for dessert! |
| I don't know anyone who is a size zero or 2, but I would order whatever I want. |
| I eat what I want to eat. I have a couple size 0-2 friends and they don't eat just salad or just a very healthy item. |
