| I am moving to Maryland soon and I’d like to know which schools have the most diversity. Also, I’m looking for something that has high test scores as well. |
You can't have it both ways. Diverse = lower test scores, less diverse = higher test scores. More so as your kid moves up to MS and HS. |
I smell a cultural warrior stirring trouble.
All but a handful are quite diverse. Test scores largely track SES. |
|
I’m not from this area. I went to a diverse school where I’m from and there were high test scores. Most people went to Ivy League schools. So, I’m hoping there is something similar here. |
| Try Wheaton Woods ES |
| College Gardens Elementary in Rockville. Has all 4 major demographic groups in the 20-30% range. |
Wheaton Woods isn't diverse for MoCo. |
| Please define "diverse" |
Latino, Black, and Asian students that are doing well academically. I don’t want to put my kid in a school where they can’t get to know different kinds of people. |
Based on your definition, would a school with 1% Latino, 1% Black, and 1% Asian and all these 3% students are doing well academically is consider "diverse"? If that is not what you want, please define "diverse" |
|
Diverse can be:
Is a school with 15% white considered "diverse"? Is a school with 40% white and 60% black considered "diverse"? Is a school with 15% white, 75% Latino and 20% others considered "diverse"? Is a school with 15% white, 45% Asian, and 40% others considered "diverse"? Is a school with 75% FARMS considered "diverse"? Is a school with 50% FARMS considered "diverse"? |
| A truly diverse school would have no one group comprising more than a third or so of its population. |
What is FARMS? |
| Farms is free and reduced meals aka what people here use for code for poor kids. |
