While mines are the cause, the withdrawal of insurance is the actual mechanism that has paralyzed 90% of the shipping traffic.

These ships have no mine clearance capabilities. Maybe they could take out one mine each with their hulls? 65 ships went through the straits last week. I guess all 65 hit a mine and sunk?

Trump even said there are no mines in the strait. Do you really think any ship would go through the strait if mines had been laid? Do you think the US navy would send two $2.5 billion ships in to a minefield?
