| I am sympathetic to all of that but they (the BOE and MCPS) do have a job to do. I’m personally worried things are falling through the cracks, especially in regional programs. |
Many of the cracks were already there and this just highlights them. |
+1 You said it better than me. |
This is why the regional plan vs the dcc and nec will not work for many of our families as it’s clear we are not welcome even if we have higher incomes than some of those families protesting against our kids. |
| To me, seems more like this is less about they did do and more about what they didn’t do, especially relative to prior practice. |
Nobody has identified a single specific thing they didn’t do relative to past practice. |
Prior BOE members never would have stood for this. You know who I’m talking about, Pat is not the only one, but she really understood how things work and are supposed to work. They were good at this type of pushback and holding MCPS to task. |
Agreed. There is such limited data around the regional model, but because MCPS is claiming it is "inextricably linked" to the boundaries, the board is just going along with it. |
So what didn’t they do? Parent associations doing grassroots efforts doesn’t count. |
So what exactly should the BOE be doing that they are not? |
Compare to Woodward/WJ and Silver Creek. So much feedback and collaboration. |
I do not see any specific thing that is different in this scenario. |
I think the BOE could demand feedback from Wheaton Woods, but maybe that ship has sailed. Everyone assumes they want to be moved to Woodward but maybe that isn’t the case. They could demand much, much more in regional programs and impact. Why not roll these things out with a pilot first? Learn from mistakes, poor assumptions etc. Just not as familiar with option h, but I know others are (obviously). |
When did option h first come up? Reopening Woodward has been discussed for at least a decade (or close to it). |
Yes, they did which is why we are in this mess now. |
