No, he went to China about a month or two after the actual Tianamen Square massacre. But my memory (I'm about his age) is that the protest movement and the ensuing crackdown was larger than just that one day. So he may have been remembering the general vibe and not the specific day. Or he may have meant to say he was there "in the wake of" Tianemen Square and short-handed that. It was a dumb unforced error on his part, but I don't think it was a malicious lie.

Meanwhile, Trump and Vance spread malicious lies about 40 times a day, but that's okay. Let's focus on one time Tim Walz mis-spoke about his trips to China. Good Lord. The GOP is so desperate.

The problem with Walz that it is not just one time. He continues correcting himself as "misspoke" on so many instances when he got caught. I don't give a f about Trump or Vance, but picking Tim was a huge mistake for democrats.

The false equivalence is breathtaking. He misspoke about when he was in China. Vance called Trump "America's Hitler". These two are not the same.

Nope. He also said he misspoke about his military record. He kept using "misspoke" on every single occasion he was exposed about his lies. Also yesterday, confusing Israel and Iran was scarring. And I am jewish from the generation of democrats.

Why would anyone who has children in private schools worry about it? I am a first generation immigrant and both my children are in elite private school in suburban DC. Vance wants every parents have a choice to put their children to the school of their choice.

It wasn’t PR on the fly. It was a debate, and a Yale trained lawyer is going to know how to prepare for a debate. On the fly, JD is awkward like the donut shop incident. But he excelled on behalf of his handlers (techno billionaires) when given the opportunity to prepare a ton for an interaction.

Yes that was in response to PP’s observation that Joe Klein opined that Walz did nearly as bad as Biden. I think that Walz was awkward here and there but he did better than Biden. Also, he is running for VP not P.

Walz did fine and got better as he went along. He is not a smooth talker but he said substantive, thoughtful things and he nailed Vance to the wall at the end about Jan 6.

Walz is a terrible speaker, the entire debate he was angry, anxious and lost. Adding that to Harris's terrible speaking skills, together they will be a joke for many years to come.

Oh please / even a majority of Republicans conceded that Harris won the debate.

The jury is out on the VP debate but many people think Walz came off as more genuine and substantive despite being more awkward. Vance lied more smoothly but he made many major blunders and not all his pivots worked (such as retorting to question “who do you think won the last election?” With “I’m looking to the future”. Not many of us want a future of violent insurrections and non peaceful transfer of power again.
