Motivation to lose the last 10 lbs

Anonymous
I’ve lost 30 - kept it off over a year

I’m still 10 lbs overweight - I’m not beating myself up over it. There are definitely worse things.

But, my cholesterol is still a bit over even though it’s decreased. My knee is bothersome. I’ve read that an extra 10 lbs actually puts 40 lbs extra on knees.

I have a healthy diet on a day to day basis but there are still a lot of “extras” - meals out, celebration deserts, out for drinks etc. How much of that do I want to give up?

Has anyone’s life changed for the better after losing 10?

Thanks!

Me to. It's so hard because the last 10 pounds seem to take forever to come off. Not about motivation, about willpower

You could just try dumping some of the extras and see how you feel. I drank for a long long time and I’m done with that all together. Very glad I did that.

I doubt the additional 10 lbs is what is creating problems for your knee. That’s more likely function and strength related. But, losing some weight may help, and you won’t know until you see how that last little bit affects things.

Either way, amazing you dropped 30 and kept it off!

You have to remember that losing those celebration treats is only temporary. Or, you need to find a way to incorporate them into your diet. The difference between maintenance of 150 pounds versus 160 pounds is maybe 100 calories a day, depending on your weight and height. So the days you want to have a special treat, you need to move more or eat less at other meals. You can do it! It's about discipline, not motivation.
