Doesn't the Tyler PK3 have to be a mistake? Didn't they go to immersion only for PK3 this year?

Thank you!

Friendship Chamberlain no waitlist for PK3-1st. Surprises me for ECE; pretty decent location for Hill/just across the the river folks commuting in.

JOW basically no WL for K-2.

Also, I am confused by why Watkins doesn't appear on the list, because they initially didn't even fill their seats. Can they pull them back if that happens with a plan to downsize?

Could be, that seemed weird to me too. But maybe they are seats without a language dominance requirement?

I don't know about Watkins, could be.

JOW likely due to the renovation?

Friendship Chamberlain is a great PK option, I encourage anyone without a solid plan to check it out.

With Apple Tree - Oklahoma Ave (Spring Valley/NW) on this list can we finally hear the end of the W3 moaning about how they don't have PK3/PK4?

I'm also confused by this. Originally, Sojourner Truth had 110 lottery seats for sixth grade, 89 matches, and 2 on the waitlist. Why aren't they on this short waitlist site?

There is no chance there are zero kids on the Tyler immersion PK3 waitlist for English dominance. There are even kids on the Spanish dominant wait list and there are virtually no Spanish speakers on Capitol Hill!

This is like Watkins. They had unfilled seats in every grade 1-5. Did they forget to add the schools with actually empty spots to this?

Yeah, JOW picked an unfortunate time to be just pre-construction. I think interest there is going to skyrocket post-construction, but they're really going to have to do some rebuilding first. They're going to end up with a ton of empty seats.

Maybe. I think for IB families, how the renovation looks will make a difference. They are in a highly visible location and will be in a swing space for two years. That reno is going to be a total overhaul, akin to what was done at Maury and the Logan building at CHMS. I think you are going to see a large renewal in IB interest as it goes up, especially as L-T becomes a less viable alternative even in upper grades, and people lose faith in Two Rivers as a solid option. Increased interest in Stuart Hobson for middle, driven in part by the popularity of L-T, will also help drive interest.

I actually think that renovation is going to draw a lot of eyeballs and lots of families on the Hill and adjacent areas who are not IB for L-T, Maury, or Brent are often looking for a walkable option. A small number get into SWS or CHMS. But I think JOW is going to rapidly become more desirable than TR, Peabody-Watkins, and driving commutes to charters in Brookland/Edgewood/EotR.

I believe schools can change their offering of seats. So that would indicate they are no longer seeking as many kids.

So there are PK spots left in ward 3. Weren't people complaining about that earlier?

When would have been a good time? The point (made by others) is that families in K-2 will likely never get the benefit of the reno and will have to deal with swing space, so why go? That would have been the case regardless of when they did the reno.
