TEACHERS don't feel guilty about using a "mental health day" Sick day every once in a while, I am going to NYC next Friday. I am 250 hours of sick leave. I only used 2 "mental health days" this year.

Do what you have to do, OP.

My daughter's quirky English teacher writes weekly updates. First week after winter break, he wrote that he wished he was still skiing and not in school. Today he wished all "mother's" a Happy Mother's Day.

He's a fun person and my daughter likes him. But I wish he'd re-read his emails before sending them, for spelling and general propriety. Nothing like psyching up your kids to return from break when the teacher openly wishes he was elsewhere!

Well this is what stops me from writing to parents more often. I do monthly updates because while I am really good at math and physics, I am not good at writing. I would rather have room to make mistakes than any parent appreciation gift cards or trinkets btw.

No human errors....you are a teacher you should be living breathing only at school serving entitled parents. Anyway OP go enjoy life-it't short and this job is a lot. Take care of you!

Going on a trip is not an appropriate use of sick leave.

+1 we all get that teaching can be tough and it’s understandable to take the occasional mental health day to regroup, but you should not be using sick leave for a planned trip in any profession and are risking being fired by doing so.

Lol. Obviously you have no idea that no teacher would be fired for this. There is nobody to take their job anyway. A trip is just the mental health holiday teachers need.
