| We are leaving the country for a very special vacation. The hotel provides a bottle of sparkling wine and we are considering allowing DD12 a small half glass to toast with us. Is this in poor taste? |
| Yes, it is. Sparkling water or cider will do, or a Sprite. |
| Too young IMO |
| It’s fine. Really. |
| I wouldn't do it. 16-17 maybe... but 12 is too young. Can they provide sparkling cider instead? |
| Ridiculous question OP. Grow up. Be a real parent. |
| I would let my kid have a sip if they were curious but not pour them a glass. Definitely no. |
| Too young. Don’t start the connection btw alcohol and celebration this young. |
I don’t think it’s ridiculous. It’s not ridiculous at all in Europe! We are Jewish and recently started allowing our 13yo to partake in wine during Seder. Feel free to judge me to feel better about your rigid parenting. |
| A very small glass - it’s fine. I started having a tiny glass of sparkling wine at Christmas and thanksgiving with my family around that age. I’m a productive, responsible mom of 2 with a good job, good marriage and no issues with alcohol. |
| 12 is way too young. and I grew up in Europe where drinking at 15 or 16 was totally normal. |
This. |
Anyone with eyes knows many societies have this connection. |
Yours is a religious thing which is completely different. And I don’t give a f*ck about Europe. |
