Pet peeve: deboarding an airplane by row

Anonymous
It drives me bananas when people on airplanes insist on deboarding airplanes by row. All 6 people in row 3 have to depart before some Uber Polite Person in row 4 will move. I'm not against being polite and don't advocate for a mad dash pushing row 3 folks of the way. I mean waiting for a slowpoke in row 3 who hasn't even stood up yet to make his way finally to the aisle, meantime, the Uber Polite Person has held up 5 people behind him who were ready to hoof it off the plane and make a connection.

I never say anything because it seems so pushy. But seriously, Uber Polite Person, you are not actually being polite to the people behind you!

Never happened to us. Connecting flights are called before, and people don't wait around for slowpokes.

What are you talking about? This doesn’t happen. If someone is still sitting and the aisle is free, people walk. If the people in the rows ahead of you are up and waiting to exit, obviously people let them exit.

Nope! This happens on 90% of my flights. Crazy making. It's somebody from Row 4 who fancies himself a true gentleman, and he stands up in the aisle, blocking all the folks behind him. He then waits on every single person in row 3 to exit before he will get the eff out of the way.

Honestly, if grandma is not moving so fast because she's been buckled to a chair for six hours, I'm going to cut her some slack and wait for her to put her hips back into joint so she can catch up to her group.

That's how it's done. Front to back lady. If you want to exit early, pay more for the front of the plane.

I really hate the people who can’t wait their turn. The people in front of you need to get off the plane too. I standup right away to prevent people in the back from rushing the aisles. So rude. Why do you think you’re time is more important than someone else’s?

I haven’t really seen this. I’m more accustomed to seeing rude people behind me trying to barge ahead while I’m trying to get out.

Sure, grandma rule trumps. But what about teenager who is deep into a phone call and can't be bothered to focus on getting up and clearing out. Or various other lazy people who don't have a care in the world. Why does Row 4 guy think he needs to play Savior of Western Civilization. Just move along man. Get out the way.

I can’t BELIEVE— and yet, I can— that there are people on DCUM who think it’s fine to just shove your way forward no matter what.

Just one more example of how rude society has become post-pandemic.

I’ve definitely noticed more people on planes lately trying to push their way to the front, even when it’s a late night flight and there are no connecting flights. You look like an asshat if you are doing this.

Again, not talking about pushing. That is rude. I am talking about the bozo from Row 4 clogging the aisle so he can feel important and polite. Might be polite to people in front but is very rude to people behind.

Sorry, I side with the UPP.

I think row by row is fantastic. It’s orderly and I think ultimately it’s faster than the mad dash to the front.
