How many eggs/day if vegetarian?

Anonymous
If one is a vegetarian, how many eggs are the limit that one can consume daily? I'd assume it's more than one or two per day, as one is not eating meat of any kind?

Depending on how you interpret "meat" and "vegetarian" I think the answer is either 0 or it doesn't matter.

What does being vegetarian have to do with 'how many" eggs you eat? You either eat eggs or you don't. It's a lifestyle choice.

I think you get to decide how many eggs you want to eat per day.

I think she means what are the heart guidelines. The research is mixed but I think you’re safe at 2 a day if your cholesterol is good.

I don't think so because OP specified they're vegetarian, so that is the impetus for their question.

DD age 10 eats 1 or 2 eggs most mornings on a mini bagel. I eat one egg with spinach every morning. We do eat fish, mostly salmon or tuna, but no other meat.

I don’t eat any eggs. My Dr is a vegetarian bodybuilder very into nutrition and he eats 2/day.

Max 4 But try to switch up your sources of protein

My 17 year old considers 4 eggs to equal a serving. Any less and he's going to starve to death. He also eats meat. Cholesterol is fine.

It's not a dumb post if you know anything about the ongoing debate regarding dietary cholesterol. But, I guess you don't.

Gaston from Beauty and the Beast eats 5 dozen eggs every day, so he’s roughly the size of a barge.

2 eggs per day assuming you don’t have heart or cholesterol issues had been the guideline. It doesn’t matter if you are vegetarian. Eggs have a uniquely high cholesterol profile that other protein sources don’t have (except shrimp maybe). Things like red meat and full fat dairy are higher in saturated fat than eggs, but have a lot less cholesterol. But...the relationship between dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol in your blood isn’t conclusive.

So, I think the rule everything in moderation is best applied. Even heathy foods, moderation and eating a varied diet is ideal

BUT the question was related to being vegetarian! not whether or not eggs are good for you! Read what OP wrote, it's nonsensical. For real.

It doesn't seem nonsensical at all. If you're a vegetarian, you're probably getting less cholesterol in your diet because you don't eat red meat, a primary source of LDL. So, you can probably eat more eggs and still stay at a healthy level of cholesterol.

OP, I don't actually know the answer but just wanted to defend your very reasonable question.
