So sorry! I hope he has other good options. What else does he have to offer aside from grades? ECs? Leadership? What is the major? If it is CS that could explain it since everyone wants CS.

No way! Students with this GPA has to be top 5 (not top 5%) students in a typical FCPS school. Something has to be wrong somewhere.

I agree or OP is a troll.

Yield protection. They make the crappy decision he likely would not attend...which given that out of state and private schools can be from $60-80K for donut hole families is really crappy.

This isn’t news

UVA thinks your DC is going to an ivy, OP. I have seen similar stats get rejected from UVA, more than a few times. UVA wants sob stories, not outstanding stats.

I am sorry, OP. That is rough!

Probably a weighted GPA.

They don’t yield protect at UVA. Yes Va Tech does.

UVA is overrated. So is VT. State schools that like to deny amazing in state applicants unless they fit the “diversity” profile. Too high on themselves.

Yield protection + anti-affluent bent (who needs another rich kid from McLean, the thinking goes).

And diversity and First Gen and they are 37% out of state which bites for VA residents. Wish it were more like UNC that valued in-state.
