The parents at GP should be scratching their heads over this too.

What event is SSSAS doing?

NHSLS is the premier event this weekend...

Speaks is an idiot for hosting his own event

Especially because he's only going to be playing his uncommitted guys this fall.

I have no idea what kind of event Speaks is putting on, but NHSLS is a pain in the ass anyway. I guess the timing for the Fall event isn't too bad, but doing two Thursday & Friday events in June is brutal for the players who almost all have club commitments as well. It's a money grab for Adrenaline, and the high school coaches shouldn't stand for it.

More players get recruited out of NHSLS than the entire summer club circuit combined if you play for a halfway decent school program. A player's commitment should be to their school and not some disparate bunch of club players who come and go over time. The level of team play is way higher in NHSLS and so is the intensity. Club summer ball is a couple of passes and shoot and watching poles try to go full field and btb.

I have heard that IAC cannot practice in the offseason and that the league permits one competition day.
On the other hand, the WCAC doesn’t have rules and can practice and play year around.
Can someone post the out of season rules for the IAC and WCAC?

WCAC officially starts Jan 20th.

Players can lift and do skills all year round if they want. Voluntarily workouts.

Do you really think that the IAC teams playing in these fall tournaments aren’t practicing? Please.

There is nothing voluntary about the out-of-season program at SJC. Kids show up before school and stay after school for more sessions. If you don't participate, you don't play. One, because it's not voluntary and two, you just won't be as good as the other players Speaks recruited. The school doesn't have any 2 sport athletes to speak of so and their coaches work at the school so it can be enforced.

At GZ, the coaches aren't there so the program is far less strict. In the IAC, there just aren't enough bodies to run a practice because most of the other kids play a 2nd sport or even a 3rd. In the winter, a few more are available but then the elements get in the way of any organized workouts.

The Cadets go 6 days a week.

Coach Speaks has been putting on his tournament for several years and a lot of the same coaches that attend NHSLS attend his tournament. It’s held the same weekend for a reason.

NHSLS is stupid expensive and the parents are glad they don’t need to pay for it.

Do you have a kind of backup for that recruiting claim?

I don’t follow… can you shed some insight?

College coaches will be at event. Stop hating.

the 2 events aren't even close in size, quality or exposure.

Doesn’t look like the Cadets are struggling with exposure. They are doing ok. Lol

Ain't no way more kids recruited out of NHSLS. What a ridiculous statement.

Not PP but I would agree that a higher % of players are recruited out of NHSLS than the all of the club events combined. However, almost all of the top players at NHSLS do also play club. There are some club tournaments that are not good. NHSLS is = to any of the top club events. However, few if any and none that I know of get recruited only out of NHSLS and do zero club events. Most do all plus a few all start showcases. I also think my DS's club team would beat his HS team by several and we are talking about a top 5 DMV HS program.

NHSLS is a great opportunity for kids to get college eyes on them, but it in no way replaces the club events for recruiting. Put another way… a kid playing club can not play at NHSLS and still get recruited without skipping a beat, but a kid cannot skip club events and count on getting recruited only playing NHSLS.

Note that I’m assuming the kid plays for a top club team (NL, ML, DCE, Hawks and the like), who really only play in high level club events.

This might surprise you, but there are players that get recruited that aren't on top teams.

Make sure to buy your NHSLS apparel. Need it to remember where your kid was seen.
