You are going to need to name the clubs. Development at some clubs is not meant to help your daughter improve much, just offset costs. And the coaching a developmental program receives is likely much lower than that of their top teams. So don’t assume developmental at a top club is anything special. |
Developmental is at Next Level. |
Next level. |
Is it just skill work? No games is a concern to me because your daughter needs to be able to implement the skills she is learning at game speed. Is hoco an option? Does her high school participate in the Capital League? I wouldn’t go to the team you mentioned as getting clobbered. Are there any other clubs you can consider? |
She can register as an individual with Capital League. OP, are you in MD or VA? |
I wonder if Hustle will have their Patriot Summer League this summer…..
Big money maker for H club. |
Most likely not if USA Field Hockey finds out. |
Capitol Field Hockey has a good summer league held at the George Mason University turf field. |
Finds out what? The non-cheating at NITQ. If you're going to continue to post this garbage, identify yourself. |
My daughter never played for H and I have no ill feelings towards the director/coaches/families. That said, I think the abruptness of the program's disbandment and the fact that they had internationals play for qualifiers is suspicious. Maybe everything was above board and the timing was just coincidence. I don't think that is the case here; but it is possible. |
My niece has been involved in field hockey in this area and I just don't get it. Club is super boring. High school is the worst. Seems like a path for girls who can't hack it in soccer or basketball to get D3 scholarships. |
Gee, I wonder who posted this^ |
So, Husel’s Insta is gone.
What else is known about this? (And when did it happen?) How can it be verified? |
Your niece must not be very good. Watch the top club teams (Freedom, Warhawks) and you'll see athleticism and skill. It's true that even the best known high schools around here to not play good field hockey. True field hockey players are very strong, skilled athletes--it's much more strenuous and requires more skill, for example, than lacrosse. It's true that soccer and basketball are sports that, to play at the top level, require serious athleticism and skill. But, as I said, you have probably only watched bad field hockey. With that said, even bad field hockey can be quite fun--lots of exercise and nice teammates. Oh, maybe that's the part you don't get. |
Because field hockey is so high skill, on par with basketball, but higher than soccer, you will see a lot of girls go to lacrosse to try and play in college. Much much easier to get into a D3 school (and even D1) for lacrosse because the rosters are so huge and it’s a lower skill sport. |
