Does “no gift” mean you do not bring a card too?

Or do you always bring a card?

I’ve been to no gift where people brought gifts, and balloons along with small toys and felt completely confused as I took it very literally and did not bring a gift. I can’t recall if I took a card.

So if the parents request no gifts you still bring a gift?

I usually don’t bring a card either. Just a verbal happy birthday.

I would bring a card and put some stickers in there or like a small gift card to a local bakery or ice cream shop or the like.

I only would if we were gifting a cool sticker or the kids had time and desire to make a card. Otherwise, I enjoy the convenience of just dropping a kid off for a fun time with no shopping excursion and wrapping precursor.

My kid (7) makes a card. He draws something and writes happy birthday friend’s name.

Cards are nice to bring to a no-gift party.

We always bring a card and I include a sheet of stickers or temporary tattoos or a bunch of balloons or their favorite candy if we know it.

Yes, the gift is for the child, not the selfish parents. If the kid has too much stuff, the parents should buy them less.

I would usually bring one of those fun musical cards to a no-gift party.

My DD just went to a no gift party today and she made a card (she's 7). A few people brought cards as well and at least one had a gift card in it because the birthday boy happened to open that one.
