Silo Series on Apple TV

Just saw this trailer today, and I'm so excited! When I read the books I always thought it would make a great tv series.

Very excited for this

This has been great so far! Highly recommend if you enjoy post-apocalyptic shows. I read the books and the series has a lot of twists and turns you don't expect.

My thoughts - it's ok (opening credits are stunning), but most of the acting is really bad. The main character, played by Rebecca Ferguson is good, as was the Rashida Jones character, but the deputy sheriff and Tim Robbins character are almost embarrassingly bad. And Harriet Walter, who I generally love, has a horrible American accent.

Common is an awful actor.

It's very slow. I do love the visual world they have created. I've been pleasantly surprised by Rebecca Ferguson although her accent is a bit all over the place.

It's been a really long time since I read the books, but I feel like perhaps they have not condensed enough. The books were really good about drawing out the mystery and suspense and creating this unique world. And the character development kept you reading when perhaps the action was lacking. I'm not getting that here.

I'm wondering if a flashback mechanism would have worked better from the start.

Why do I feel like I am watching the 100?!

I have no idea because they are nothing alike.

Agree, I read the books and was drawn in. This just seems like everyone dies, one by one.

PP here - the last episode was better, but still. They have to pick it up here. One thing it does have going for it is that I want to read the books again!

Maybe it will all tie together but they have introduced a dizzying array of characters and it's hard to keep up. And as you noted, they keep killing them off without much forward movement in the plot. Evil Judicial is not enough.

Thought the latest episode was pretty good, definitely changing some things from the book, but I think they're doing it to move the story forward at a faster pace. The book also started really slow, but in the show they're almost to the part where it starts to get really interesting.

So I am really enjoying the TV series - are the books different enough that I will not feel like I'm just re-reading what I've seen on the show?

The books are really long, so it's a little early in the show to know how closely they're going to follow the books. The books are good though! The first one follows Juliet, and then the second book goes back and covers why the silo's were created, and then the third book goes back to the Juliet storyline. I'm not sure how the show is going to progress.

The bad acting is really getting to me.

Anyone watch Episode 10/season finale?

I'd be interested to hear the impression of it from someone who has not read the books.

I thought they set it up nicely for Season 2 even if I felt the episode was overall fairly predictable.
