| Forgive the controversial topic, but why do people like chicken wings? They have little meat and a bunch of gristle. Why? |
|
Sauce and crispy fried skin
It's not really about the meat. |
Because they are a delicious hot sauce delivery device. |
| I'm with you, OP. I don't find them appealing in the least. |
| I don't either - too much effort and mess for too little meat. My DH and DS love them, though. |
|
I don't like the sauce/bone/gristle/mess - also essentially they're terrible for me.
And ribs have the same problem. |
| It’s fried chicken with tasty sauces, what’s not to like about high fat, salty, greasy food? |
Yep. Give me a good Buffalo wing (+ blue cheese, never ranch) over sweets any day. |
|
This took me a while to figure out but yes, it’s the skin. You can do a bunch of great flavors too! Often for a snack I just douse some wings in olive oil and some random seasoning (cumin, chili and lime, whatever) and bake them. They’re great.
I don’t like ones that are deep fried and then smothered in buffalo sauce and then served with bleu cheese dressing. The flavor combo is not my thing and putting sauce on something deep fried messes up the texture. |
| You know, they came up with the idea of "chicken wings" because it was a part of the chicken that most people didn't eat and it was unused generally. |
I'm right there with you. Wings are polarizing. |
| I’m glad someone likes them, so I get the better parts of the chicken. |
| They are revolting. I don’t get it either. |
|
You don't get what you don't get. No doubt you grew up eating chicken breast and other fat free rubber tasting products.
Some of us like flavor! And fat and skin is flavor. Or you ate some wings that you made and you can't cook! |
Right? Love them. Some people like their steak lean and well done, there is no account for taste, which means really there is no accounting for people that have no taste buds. |
