I suppose it’s no different than exercising in a cooler climate? Thoughts either way? Do fans or AC lower the number of calories burned in a workout? |

No- fans don’t lessen the calories you burn in a workout. They simply blow the sweat dry. You don’t notice you’re sweating since it’s being evaporated by the fan.

OP... do you think if you sit outside in the summer all day long sweating, you'll burn mega calories? Or people in cold climates don't burn calories?

NP. People are not being as snarky as they could be on this thread. We're actually being really gentle. If you wear a sauna suit to workout and it makes you sweat more, you will simple lose water weight. Which will come back immediately when you rehydrate to a healthy level. In fact, if you routinely dehydrate yourself in order to lose weight, you can enter a pattern of dehydration and chronic bloating (which will make you look and feel heavier) because frequently dehydrating yourself puts your body in a survival state. I was taught stuff like this in high school health class. I know most people on DCUM are college educated, so it's frustrating when people post diet and exercise myths on here because I know most of these people have the tools to know better. This is very basic knowledge but a lot of people engage in magical thinking on this subject. |
When my fan is on, I can do usually do a given work out with a lower aver HR, so I think it might matter at the margins. |

People wear sauna suits to lose water weight from sweat. It doesn't mean the workout was harder or better or more effective. You will gain every single ounce lost back the minute you rehydrate. It's science not magic. |
