Biden proposing pay raise of 5.2% - will see if it passes.

| When will we know? |
| Is negotiating it down to 1% a bone to throw republicans in budget negotiations? |
| Hope it goes through, we are losing newer feds like crazy. |
| I sure hope so. Inflation has wiped out 3 years worth of grade and step increases for me. My office is losing people like crazy. |
| This is absurd. |
| Didn't y'all just get a 4% increase in addition to the step and grade increases already built into your salaries? No one else I know is guaranteed a promotion/salary increase every year. |
I know right. GS 13 here. If this increase goes through next year my salary will be 154K. Even if it gets knocked down to 4%, salary will be 152. Let’s go!!! |
And federal pay lags behind private sector. |
No, you’re wrong….I got a 6% raise. |
Did they say where we’re getting the money? China! Yay. |
So switch to private sector. |
We lost three in the past three months to private sector. Another just gave notice. It takes so long to backfill those positions. If I wasn’t fifty years of age, I would seriously consider popping my shoot as well. Ah, the advantages of youth in this economy. |
| I was hired at a salary below private sector and it still is. I’m not eligible for a step increase for three years. But if 5.2% goes through that’ll be a 10% raise in 18m anyway. Still below private sector but very welcome and needed. |
Why would you want sucky talent in the public sector? Not saying public sector employees should make the same as private, but a 20-25% gap for professional positions is too wide. |
