Is my goal weight reasonable

Anonymous
I'm a 41 year old man. Im 5ft 9inches and I currently weigh 165. I'm trying to get to 155 pounds. It is hard! Closest I get is 159 and then I steadily gain it back. Is my goal not reasonable? When I was 159 I was hungry! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes but your not overweight now

For what purpose? Also, being 41 but male doesn’t have much to do with your weight goals. You recover slower than you did 20 years ago and you have to be more mindful of injury, but you can drop your body fat down just as low as you could in your 20s. You just have to work harder because your muscle to fat ratio isn’t there purely because you are still alive.

I’m 42 male and ended up down around 172 at 6’ last year. That was a mistake and my endurance performance suffered. Went back up to 175-180 and had a great set of events through thanksgiving and into Christmas.

DH is 5’11” and 150. He has a solid frame and is a runner, but swear to god he’s got nothing but hollow bird bones, muscle, and skin. It’s super annoying and he eats constantly. But that’s just how his family runs: trim and fit. (Mine does not!)

So, I guess it depends on your frame, muscle, and level of activity? 5’9” and 165 is not overweight by any means, but if you’re on the softer end of fit you might not feel great? If that’s the case, perhaps focus on fitness vs weight loss.

I am 42 and went from 330 to 250 in about a year. My goal is 230-235.

Losing the weight you are trying to shouldn’t be hard. Track your calories drink water. Don’t eat anything that comes from a can, box or pouch. Moderate except use 2-3 times/week.

OP here, I'm back to tracking calories tomorrow. I hurt my back last year and I haven't been able to workout. To the PP congratulations on losing the weight.

I'm a woman, 5 ft 7, and was stuck in the 160s for the longest time. Finally got down to the high 150s and planning to stop at 155, but I'm not sure my body will want to stay there. It seemed pretty happy at 162 tbh, and I might listen to it once I prove to self that I can get to 155 ha!

You are a healthy weight that is why it’s so hard.

Just be happy at 165

What is your hip to waist ratio?

What’s your waist size? Dh is 5’9” and hovers around 165 and is muscular with. 31” waist. I dont think he needs to lose weight at all. He used to be 185 and looks and feels great at this weight now.

That sounds really tiny. A 5’9” man with a good amount of muscle should weigh more than 155. I think you would look better if you gained muscle rather than lost weight
