Anyone who thought Biden would risk his neck to help a bunch of dimwitted city politicians clearly doesn't know anything about politics. |
Great news! |
Good. Vetoing a pro-criminal law would have been a horrible move politically |
Not surprising.
Not only a bad law, at a bad time- but politically would have been horrible for Biden. |
Smart move, both substantively and politically. Ask Lori Lightfoot how elections go when you're seen as not taking crime seriously. |
LMFAO |
Was this something that he was going to do, that someone thought he was going to do? |
Way to go Joe! Way to go Repubs! Glad this one worked out for us DC residents! |
AWESOME!! DC resident here, and lifelong Democrat. THANK YOU BIDEN! You have my vote! |
Threads on this board for the past week have been saying that overstepping congress would be Veto'd. There was a little more concern when some Senate Dems said they would also approve the bill passed by the house if it came to trying to override a veto. I think everybody except DC saw the writing on the wall here. |
I know some will complain about DC Home Rule issues, but I do think the US Congress has a responsibility to protect citizens visiting from outside of DC to see the sights or to do a Capitol Hill visit. A safe environment is more important than woke progressive politics in Capitol city. |
This is kind of hilarious, but I sort of feel bad for the naive council members who thoughts lowering criminal penalties for car jacking was a good idea when they’ve increased by orders of magnitude. Maybe we’ll even get a challenger to Charles Allen. Someone who actually wants to crack down on crime. Either way, it’s not “equitable” to allow violent criminals out early to any community. Also, violence interruptors are a joke and don’t work. Read all the studies. |
There's a reason the district is an independent district. It's not his place to ride roughshod over how the people there live. |
But would they in DC? Like I live here and so many people are so into trying to “rehabilitate” violent criminals with programs and less jail time and paying them not commit crimes and all this stuff that just basically emphasizes to criminals they can keep it up rather than actual punishment. |
For 99% of stuff. Like for abortion, drugs, etc. Not for my kids being safe tho. K? Thx bai. |
